Encomiums have kept pouring in over the decision of a son of Ibusa to singlehandedly turn his village Umuehea into 'a small London', and so far he has not failed with countless projects ongoing at the moment, and even much more to come.
Umuehea village is a community in the town of Ibusa, in Delta State, it is safe to say it is among the smallest villages in the town and least developed too, but all that seem to have changed lately. For instance, it is worth noting that every corner of Umuehea has street light which has been working at 100% every night over the last couple of years. However, the surprise is that this development does not come from the government or politician, but from a philanthropist.
Roland Nwanze, the Director of Rolitex Limited which was founded approximately twenty three years ago in London, has done what many thought were impossible. The philanthropist recently made it clear that he had absolutely no intention of running for any political position, either now or anytime in the future, his only intention is to turn his village into a small London.
"I dislike politics with division, hate, intimidation, oppression or witch-hunt," he said recently. "I do not want my name used or entangled in politics. People must be allowed the freedom of expression, and competition, be allowed to strive, as these are fundamentals bedrock of a civilised society." He further emphasised on his one interest. He said he was only interested in turning his village into a small London.
Some projects completed and ongoing include, but not limited to; Streetlights, grading of about 15 roads, buying of electric poles, high tension wires and transformer, building of gate, repairing of road at Umuehea Bye Pass, building of culverts and drilling (2) / repairing (1) of 3 boreholes which supply free water to the people of the community.
In addition to that, the Chief Executive Officer of Rolitex Limited has also been a huge plus to the town. Universalreporter1 gathered that he contributed numerous poles in the cause of restoring Ibusa light. He is also said to be behind the patrolling of the town by Police, as well as empowerment of youths like buying music instrument for Nwa-One and bikes for others.
The fact that he has done all of these with very little fanfare is amazing. Imagine that more of our big (rich) men will put back their wealth in their communities and people, then the development would be unquantifiable. The kind of competition which everyone would welcome is the type where every well to do individual will strive to better his local community. Therefore we salute the real estate guru, and admire his courage.
