Quoter system is doing more harm than good. So because some idiots in nff want to field their aboki brother it almost cost us our world cup ticket. angry

I can't believe this post even got likes. Free your mind from tribal hate. Was it not the same Shehu that gave Iwobi the assist for the goal that qualified us for the World Cup? Did he not play his role well throughout the qualifiers? Purge yourself from hate bro. It will only destroy you.

Fynebouy:

You are so very correct. Aim was to field a Northerner by all me and and see what it almost cost us.

See another one. You guys need help.

Does that mean we have a rookie in person of NFF president? Why threaning anyone? He should know much about football and current status of each player.

The mistake is huge and we r grateful that it didn't affect our qualification, how ever Real Madrid made the same mistake in last year Copa del Rey by fielding Cherysev. So,its a mistake that can happen but should never be repeated. EVER.

what did he actually just say?
Just thank ur stars we've qualified already .
Cos I am still finding it hard to believe a Federation like NFF could be só negligent.

Is our barawo bubu presidiot not negligent
Otherwise why is he abandoning us in

- recession,
- fuel scarcity,
- insecurity,
- blackouts
- unemployment

Nigerians have God and Allah to thank for still being in the 2018 World Cup after FIFA sanctioned and docked points from FIFA world cup qualifiers and awarded same to Algeria following Nigeria National Team fielding a suspended player.

FIFA had fined NFF for fielding Shehu Abdullahi against Algeria after he was suspended for a match earlier. FIFA also awarded a 3-0 victory to Algeria, which however did not affect Nigeria’s qualification for the World Cup because they had qualified already before the said match.

NFF's Reactions to the sanction:

“NFF President has directed that an internal inquiry be instituted immediately & persons found culpable be dealt with. “We accept the decision of the FIFA Disciplinary C’ttee to fine the NFF and award the match to Algeria.

“At the same time, I want to assure that persons responsible for this slip would not be given just a slap on the wrist. We are actually looking at a re-organization of the Technical Department.

“The Technical C’ttee will henceforth play serious superintending role on all details, no matter how minute, in technical matters. “It is important that all committees and depts at the NFF should move at the same pace as the Executive C’ttee,” said Pinnick

I thought that the player (Abdulahi) involved would have made it known to the NFF officials when initially invited for the match. Because afterall they've already qualified for the world Cup before their last match against Algeria. And also that he was directly involved. Likewise also the NFF should also be blamed for not being detailed enough and negligence.

This is from Amaju Pinnick

To be fair to them, through out the qualifying series, official match documents didn't even show that Shehu Abdullahi was on a yellow card. For instance, when we played Cameroon, Mikel, Moses and Balogun were put on notice that they had yellow cards.

Team meetings were even held about how to handle their cards so they wouldn't miss crucial games. Shehu Abdullahi was never in the mix. Shehu then recieved a yellow against Zambia in our penultimate game, two years after the Swaziland match

Another grave mistake then occurred. Fifa sent an email to the technical officer in charge, that Shehu Abdullahi was suspended for the Algeria match. In a twist of fate, that officer was in hospital, with a severe heart condition, battling for his life.

The biggest knock to our system is the fact that his official correspondences should have been forwarded to more than one person. It wasn't. We went into our last match not knowing about Fifa's notice. Not acceptable, I agree, but these are the facts of the matter.

On the match day, we were unaware, the match officials were unaware and our opponents were unaware. It was a horrendous error and we at the Federation are truly apologetic. We thank God it did not undue years of hard work

In Nigeria, they will say the player is from the North etc

This kind of mentality is what is dragging us back. So we should be happy to make reference to real madrid for our inadequaces? if not because we are very excellent during qualifiers, removal of 3 points is enough to dump us out of qualifiers but i am not surprised, corruption is like cancer, it spreads like wild fire, there is no institution that stand out in nigeria as effective and it is really worrisome

And that person would jeopardize the chance of making more money in estacodes and "match bonuses" right? You sef reason am.

Besides, wanting to make money from match bonuses and quota system are two different things. If there is indeed an official with something to gain, how do you know he/she is not Yoruba, Igbo, Ijaw, Igala or whatever?

The person probably did not know there will be consequences.
