In addition to showcasing what people, places, and things were trending around the globe this year, the 2017 Year in Search list also offers insights into what the top trending news moment for Nigerians was in the last 12 months, as well as the new music and movies that got their attention.

The most searched individual for 2017 is late Nollywood actress Moji Olaiya, who died shortly after the birth of her second child.

Second on the list was billionaire kidnapper Evans, with actress Adesua Etomi completing the top 3 following her engagement and marriage to singer Banky W.

Olaiya's death was also the second most searched story, topped only by the ever-present ASUU strike.

The most asked question is "Is Buhari dead?" following the president's extended medical leave in the UK, while rapper Olamide's Wo! was the most searched song of the year.
