Hmmm, not totally true, within the last 5 months, Glo network has tremendously improved. I used to be one of those who insulted their network speed and kept wasting money subscribing on MTN, until I decided to give it a try (after being frustrated with how often I waste money on data subscriptions) and I have not regretted using Glo for once. Not just where I reside, most of the places I have travelled to this year, Glo network has been fast or considerably ok n I believe they will improve. Perhaps buying 9mobile will enhance their existing technology..... (Or are they buying only the subscribers without the facilities?)
u are right GLO, has improved tremendously recently I use to criticize them before , but I decide to give them a trial, if I'm not mistaken GLO is the best for internet users, their 4G lite network is very fast in my area, and their tariff data bundle is something to write home about, don't mind all diz hinterland dwellers, how do they expect full network bar when they dwell in villages??

Madam kindly sit right and understand your facts before arguing.

Glo purposely chose Band 20 for their lte because they know most devices don't support it . Because they know if they have lots of people on their 4G network it's going to slow and crash .

Now tell me how many people do you know are using glo for browsing ?

I agree they've improved their 4G network. But if they get half the Internet customers on 9mobile or mtn. Their network is going back to square one.

Glo is shining recently because they don't have lots of customers on their 4g .
I won't believe Glo network has improved until their 3G (which majority of their customers are using ) can download at - at least 900KBps.

Glo is Scrap.

9mobile 3G can download from 900KBps up to 3MBps
Mtn 3G is also same.

Please don't mention Glo Again.

Some days ago, five companies (Airtel, Glo, Helios investment partners LLP, Smile and Teleology Holdings Limited) emerged as the top five bidders to buy 9mobile network and on December 31st, 2017, 9mobile will be handed to the preferred bidder.

Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC), reiterated that December 31st deadline for the handover of 9mobile to the preferred bidder is “Sacrosanct“.

Prof Umar Garba Danbatta, the Executive Vice Chairman of NCC, said the remaining five bidders are allowed to conduct due diligence on 9mobile as the firm evidence of strong financial commitment to buy 9mobile.

He said Nigeria authorities should not just handover 9mobile to any company but to a very “technically and financially stable company“.

He said the company who ever buys 9mobile should be ready to improve the fortune of the company.

See his statement below:

“As you are aware five bidders have emerged as I am talking to you and they have been allowed to access the data room of the 9mobile in order for them to get access to the financial situation of the company and subsequently make bid for the takeover of the company.

“But we will ensure that the takeover is done in a regulated manner, not a forceful manner. That is why the CBN and the NCC are supervising what is going on through the interim board that was jointly set up by the NCC and other partners.”

Hand the company to Smile. Glo and Airtel are not even suppose to be in their unless the government is trying to create a behemoth. .... Financially, smile is more than capable as they have next oil behind them

You are not conversant with news ... Glo is the king of data ... They have the highest subscribers base in Nigeria for data services .Ask NCC DATA SERVICE...I have being on the net work since I bought the sim in Enugu during my undergraduate years ...That was when buying the sim was done through the bank.

Well i hope so. I can say Glo USED to be fast as it was my main line since 2009. I am currently on their 4Gig data plan and the speeds are not encouraging even with the full signal i am getting here. The signal doesn't drop no matter where i move so i cant say signal is the issue.

I have been to CC which is not far away from my office but even they are clueless.

Obviously they had the facilities but heavens knows what changes they made to make their speeds painstakingly slow. Let me not add the choice of their LTE band 20 which makes it mandatory for every customer do a quick spec check of a potential handset to purchase to ensure its compatibility with Glo Network.

Glo purchasing 9mobile will just cut down on options. If your LTE phone doesn't have Band 28, OYO. If you get a compatible phone but you are among the subscribers whose lines are on the slow lane, OYO.

But if Ntel or Smile purchases 9mobile's resources and assets, they will no longer be limited to some areas, they can expand to other areas.

The data speeds of Etisalat is nothing to be trifled with. Everybody knows this. Even with a weak HSDPA signal, one can get at least 500KBps unlike Glo which is at most 200KBps on full signal.
With Etisalat, you can attain this speeds no matter the SIM used or the phone used. Let it continue to remain like that.

I would rather have a network i can rely on any day, any time.

I think I know what or who the other four companies are[including the one that bears the same name as the Greek god of the sun] but Teleology Holdings has got me a bit puzzled. There's almost ZERO about them online and I have been trying to get a website that is linked to this "misty" to know where they are from but still nada!

I wonder why no one is talking about Teleology Holdings Limited. I see it as the dark horse in this race.

Teleology is a special purpose vehicle led by a former chief executive of MTN Nigeria, Mr. Adrian Wood, and Ericsson; Africa Capital Alliance (ACA), a leading pan-African investment firm based in Lagos; and The Carlyle Group, a U.S.-based multinational private equity, alternative asset management and financial services corporation.

Note that Africa Capital Alliance was co-founded by the present Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Okey Enelamah who was the former CEO. ACA Partners include Chief Ernest Shonekan (founder), Pascal Dozie (founder), Dick Kramer (founder and chairman), Cyril Odu (CEO), Afolabi Oladele, Sam Oniovosa, Paul Kokoricha and Kofi Kwakwa.

Na so. Tell them.
Check any forum discussing about Etisalat speeds, it will be difficult to find a user with less than 300KBps on 3G. But, check for Glo and you would encounter numerous Blogs with tips on how to make Glo fast on common 3G...change APN to gloflat or glosecure or gloworld or or or...na so pesin go dey change.
Also remember that Etisalat works with ANY APN. Heck, you can put Nairaland and the ish would connect sharpally. But with Glo, you have different APNs making troubleshooting a network connection troublesome. Whatever happened to "send STOP DATA" to XXXX to browse using data plan ONLY?!

Better Airtel or Smile. Not Glo.
Subscribers are still experiencing slow data speeds for over a year and yet, Glo has kept silent. CC is of no use. Please, they shouldn't add more people to this suffering.
It will make Glo better. 4G will work for all 4GLTE devices.

I beg to differ, Glo was not forced to manage with Band 28. They outrightly choose that. MTN, Airtel, Etisalat etc chose the common bands.
Thus if 9mobile was financially buoyant, Glo will be on Band 28 till thy kingdom come. So to be on the safe side, you just jejely buy a Blackberry running BB10 or an iPhone because all their models supports it regardless. Unlike getting a Samsung, Xiaomi, Sony, Infinix etc, slotting whatever SIM and using the ish...and also getting the right speeds to boot.

Lets call a spade a spade and not be clouded by the adverts that are often basically laced with incomplete infos or T&Cs.

Meanwhile both airtel and Glo shouldn't be considered at all. Let them fix their own network first. Glo is notorious for being the most unstable network in the world, yes in the whole wide world grin. And Airtel should use that money that they want to dash 9mobile to upgrade their network to 4g. I have to disagree with you. First go get your facts. Glo is the most subscribed network in Nigeria when it comes to data from individual to cooperate entities. I m just of glo and always sub to 9mobile. I can tell you that 9mobile is faster just because they have very few subscribers compared to mtn and glo
