Research reveals that most cheaters are narcissists or they possess most of the narcissist’s characteristics and are excessively preoccupied with themselves. People may cheat on their partners for the following reasons and more:



SELFISHNESS

Selfish people do many irritating things. When one is always concerned about himself and less of others, if they be in a relationship, cheating on their relationship will seem a lot easier. Thoughts like; I should go out with Amanda, she’s got great physique, wow! Jane really is hot, I should get closer to her, and so many other negative thoughts will eventually mature into the act of cheating. While thinking how much he admires Amanda and Jane he never thought of how his partner is going to feel knowing how he thinks of other women. A selfish partner is most likely to cheat.



EXCITEMENT

Fun is a great deal and some people can sacrifice anything for it, even when it’s hurting a partner’s feelings. When you are glued to thoughts of excitement you get when you are involved with people emotionally or otherwise, this single act might end up in cheating on your relationship. Sometimes when you are too excited over specific things, you could see nothing wrong with stepping on a few toes just to achieve your aim.



NATURE/ WEAKNESS

Urges and thoughts that are sensually or emotionally related are natural in every being. That notwithstanding, one has to be disciplined and cautious because not all you feel you want are good for your well-being. Some people bother themselves a lot less than they should especially when it has to do with cheating, it’s then that we often hear people say ‘it’s in our nature to cheat’, ‘you can’t cheat nature’, ‘don’t try so hard to hold yourself back from what you can’t’. These people actually submit themselves to their weaknesses when they feel the urge to get emotional or lustful with people who are not their partners.

There are many other reasons why people cheat on their relationships. There is this popular saying that "do not put all your eggs in one basket". The question is, why people choose to lie. I have met many women who are OK with being a side-chick. You don't have to stress yourself by keeping multiple secret dates. Why not stay single and be free. Its sure better than getting stabbed someday.
