lol lol Ok seriously, I guess Soludo touched this issue: ""As you can see, Naira is the symbol of our nationalism and our pride. It is pertinent to let you understand that Arabic is not one of our national languages and it was inscribed on the notes forty years ago because the majority of people then, can read it in the northern part of the country to the detriment of their counterparts in the South." , Before our great grand fathers in the south knew their right from left(got Educated), before the colonial masters began to capture them into the slavetrade market, the average northerner was involved in trans-sahara trade , meeting Arabs made them converse in Arabic, Hausa Language today is diluted with serious Arabic(approx 45% Arabic). The average hausaman(northerner) then traded with Arabs and was knowledgeable in arithmetics of trade. So before the south started acquiring western Knowlegde, the Hausa man had a little of knowlege that could help him trade. The bottomline is, You dont need English to grow economically or socially,See China and Japan!. Do u get this simple Language. The arabic signs are still important , No prejudice my countrymen |

Take these few examples 20 in arabic is ISHURUN, in hausa it is ASHIRIN 40 hadith in arabic is ARBAUNA HADITH in Hausa it is HADISAI ARBAIN Time of Prayer in ARABIC, AUKATU SALLAH in hausa it is LOKUTAN SALLAH Ignorant in Arabic is JAHIL in Hausa it is JAHILI , Do u now understand why the naira notes should have those signs in arabic.the North is Largly Hausa Speakers |

talk2ahmed: Who cares? It is not a Nigerian language. let's have the writings in Hausa then since they are similar. As a Southerner,Arabic spells Muslim so we don't want it there period. Thank God somebody finally listened |

jide4lagos: Now that the curse of Arabic inscriptions has been lifted from our naira, maybe we shall begin to see it appreciate in value. talk2ahmed: So based on this, we should now inscribe Arabic on our notes? Since English borrows a lot from the French language and Latin, why dont we also include French and Latin inscriptions on our notes too? talk2ahmed: 1. Is this same "knowledge" the reason why the North is the most educationally underdeveloped and economically impoverished part of Nigeria today? 2. Sure you dont need English to develop, please ask the Chinese and Japanese why they all teach english in their schools. |
