The Boko Haram terrorist organisation has threatened to attack some newspaper houses in the country just as it bombed the office of ThisDay years back for “dishonouring our prophet, Mohammad (SAW) during a beauty pageant in Kaduna in November 2002”.


In a video, the group grouped media houses it is targeting into three categories, accusing them of helping the Nigerian government’s anti-terrorism crusade, being anti-Islam, misinforming members of the public about its operation, and dishonouring Prophet Mohammad.

According to it, publications in the first group have “big offences” and include: ThisDay, Punch, Daily Sun, Vanguard, Guardian, Nation, Tribune, and National Accord. In the second category are: Leadership, Daily Trust, People’s Daily and RFI(Radio France international). Also threatened are VOA Hausa radio, and the online medium, SaharaReporters.

In the video trending online, Boko Haram leader, Abu Shekau threatened that his group would come for the staff and offices of the listed media organisations.
