From his story, I found out he started smoking when he got into University. He got into the federal university in my state and since we weren't based there, he lived alone in the family house.

This is someone who got into school and for his first year studying engineering, he had a very strong 2.1 and bagged Agbami scholarship. Fast forward to 3 years later, he dropped to a 2.2(which he later graduated with) and lost his Agbami scholarship. This same year he came home for hols and started being all by himself. One way or the other, my parents caught him smoking one day, dad scolded him, mum did same but later on went to plead with him to stop. He promised he would but still went back to smoking.

Right now before he goes to someone's house to maybe spend few days he would ask questions like: is there a backyard, is there a lone time in the house? Privacy etc, just so he would smoke.

He smokes weed EVERY single DAY!!!
And now he is getting really slim, anytime I try to talk to him about it he gets angry and walks away.

Just few days ago I noticed he has been drinking something he calls "purple"(he mixes it with maybe coke or ChiExotic). I went into his room and saw a bottle of tutolin which is obviously his "purple". I asked him why he was drinking it, he said he felt like and I told him I was gonna tell someone in the family.

NOW TO MY QUESTION

Should I go ahead and tell a family member/all or I should keep talking to him?

Get him professional help. An addiction specialist. And threatening him wouldn't work

There is this SK I was smoking that it's gets me so high it even advised me to stop smoking. I don't know if I should recommend it to him

I smoke weed but codein , tremadol, rophnol are stuff I would not advice anyone to do. weed is OK, leave it green don't mix it.

I have talked and talked, all my siblings have done the same snd instead of improving, it is getting worse.It's really affecting him and I dont know what to do.

You guys should check him into a good rehab.

Since you come from Christian home, sincerely talk to Jesus about it. Somehow Jesus will bring him out of the addiction

If he's already an addict (and it looks like he is) then talking cannot make him stop. That's why it's an addiction.

There are two things that can help an addict:

1. Prayers (fasting and prayer)
2. Rehab (if you're not into prayers)

I was a complete weed addict for years .
Some people taught I could never quit.
But I sure did without rehab nor prayers .
I have never seen someone quit any addiction through prayers and most people when they quit through rehab they are more likely to go back to same addiction.

The number one key to quitting addiction is willingness, discipline and being engaged/busy with work or any other distraction

Most addicts after rehab go back to same addiction .
The necessary key to stop addiction is discipline and being engaged with work or other profitable engagements.

See, at one point in time, boys try things out. From booze to drugs to smoke, all part of growing up. And with time and more responsibilities, indulge in these things, once a while. And then gradually stop. But addiction is one very dangerous side effect that comes with substances. destroys it's victim. Op your brother has reasons/excuse for doing the drugs and weed, and from all indications, he is addicted. Honestly, if he were my brother, I will give him all the help I can, and that include informing our parent, elder siblings and if possible get him to rehab ASAP... speaking from experience, this things when addiction is involved, destroys life. My elder brother smoked for like 12-15 years.
I came back home one day and he was telling his testimony to a family friend. that is how I know he is totally free cos he can talk about it.
This I want I learnt from his story
1. Don't kill yourself on top his matter (my mum lost her life)
2. Let him fend for himself, don't assist him in any way
3. Love him real good and pray for him

Don't look at rehab as an option, he will end up messed up. He needs to be willing to quit first, as in, realising the need to even though he is still into it. That is a first and most important step. Next he needs a girl, help him find one, whi will love him and nag him.... At first he will sneak around, slowly but gradually. Also register him in the gym, activities to take his time. Above all, PRAY. I smoked weed for 10yrs and I've been clean for 5years without no urge...

Reporting him will most likely harden him. My advice will be to try and gain his confidence in you first and slowly try to get him busy in ways that make him money if possible, that way you can have a shot at breaking his dependency on drugs. He will realize on his own that drugs are bad lest we forget an idle mind is the devil’s workshop. Bewarned drug addicts think differently so your approach needs to be very creative and less condemning. If possible wake up in the morning and ask him how much he needs for his drugs, give it to him the shock from that will leave him unsettled and that will naturally kick start the process of him quitting
