dpete1: Definitely not a good ideal. It just goes as far to tell us how clueless our leaders are. A state generating hundreds of billions yearly can not have a stable and good waste management system. Why won't there be flood when dirts are dispose or picked up once a week. The problem is not the cart pusher or yhe wheel barrow. They are the problem. |

[quote author=Harbdulrasaq post=64163678]The Lagos State Government on Saturday announced a total ban on the operations of cart pushers and wheel barrow operators in the State, saying that their activities were inimical to the environmental cleanliness in the State. The State Government said that with the flag off of the Cleaner Lagos Initiative (CLI), the continuous activities of cart pushers will pose a threat to the success of the initiative. According to the state govt, investigations had also revealed that the cart pushers are responsible for most of the illegal dumping of waste in canals and road medians at night which causes flooding, adding that they were also traces of security threats. The State Government has finalised plans to ensure that the CLI would cover every area of the State and ensure that refuse are well packed and collected, urging residents to desist from patronising them or risk prosecution. mercedes Vboot And 504 For Sell, E Be Like Na The Next Item Listed |

Wetin concern wheel barrow pushers carrying people's load with causing dirtiness... They should only ban people carrying dirt using wheelbarrow, so many dirts fall off and they don't pick it. Govt should be wise |

So I go dey train dirty now.....psp hat comes whenever they like ..... In my opinion I think individuals will dump their refuse on the roads and in the drains more than what is obtainable..... I recollect seeing individuals throwing out refuse from their vehicles on eko bridge and third mainland....the bus stops and roads are not left out... For this to be effecttive psp have to come for collection every three days. |

These people operates in different sectors; 1. those that collect scraps/refuse 2. those that move goods within and around market areas 3. those ones that drags road with motorist in non market areas with load almost touching the sky 4. the Meruwas (semi automobile water tankers)... I think the state government should check their activities instead of outright banning. Especially, those ones that operate within/around market areas and the Meruwas; They aren't totally useless in some parts of the state. |

I now know that only a few can read and digest information on nairaland. When the state says it will ban truck pushers and it regards dirts isn't that telling you that those that push truck for dirts. Those load carrying trucks and carts are free to trade but not to carry dirts. You all should go to school and learn. 2 Likes |

Harbdulrasaq: Well you just worsened the security threat. Why would you extinct thousands of jobs, be they teachers, truck pushers, drivers etc, without creating alternatives or training them in New trades. You just end up swelling the unemployment line with bitter people who will resort to crime because there is no social security safety net or a new job to turn to. Our leaders need to go to school for policy education. For every decision you make there are negative reactions or fallouts. So you should have the solutions or mitigants in hand before implementing new policy decisions. |

Anything to make Lagos decongested is welcome.. Lagos should clamp down on traffic hawkers and jail them if need be. People must learn to stay in their regions and develop it. There's no good life for migrants anywhere 5 Likes |
