Ambode signed a PPP with an entity that is not known anywhere in the world for waste management.

Somebody (in the right circle) appears to have had a brainwave.

We can corner waste management in Lagos, all we have to do is get the State assembly to decree that each house must pay.

Then we float a bond (invest state funds in the name of private individuals & private entities)

Then we seat back and ENJOY the flow of money.

Problem is bond was under subscribed.

Lagos need 1500 compactors (they've just brought in about 50)

dainformant:
Lagos State Government on Monday arrested 30 cart pushers for dumping refuse indiscriminately on road medians in some areas of the State in the middle of the night.

Chairman of the State’s Task Force on Environmental and Other Special Offences (Enforcement Unit), SP Olayinka Egbeyemi who spoke to journalists, said the arrest was in line with the recent ban on the activities of cart pushers and wheel barrow operators by the State Government.

Egbeyemi, who affirmed that the activities of cart pushers in the State are illegal, said investigations found them culpable in dumping refuse on the road side especially at night thereby sabotaging efforts by the Government to keep the State clean.

He said the Government is poised to go all out to prosecute any persons found to be working against the new waste management policy encapsulated in the Cleaner Lagos Initiative (CLI), saying the programme is designed to revolutionalise waste administration in line with global best practices when fully operational.

“There are reports that refuse are littering the Lekki, Victoria Island, Ajah and other parts of the State and investigations reveal that it is the handiwork of unscrupulous elements within Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) and their outside sponsors who are not comfortable with the new arrangement for the management of waste in the State and are hell bent on sabotaging government effort and frustrating them from carrying it out.

Egbeyemi said the suspects arrested would soon be charged to court for prosecution, just as he assured that Government would leave no stone unturned in keeping the State safe and clean.

Besides, the Task Force Chairman said that the enforcement would continue across the State until the activities of cart pushers and other unscrupulous elements found to be frustrating government’s efforts are completely brought to a halt.

Useless govenrment, have they made alternative arrangement for them to have a source of livelihood?

Lagos surbhub will continue to be dirty as ever..its only these dirty collectors that many areas rely on to take away their dirt..now that they are having them arrested, expect more dirties in evry crannies of the state..waste mgt service is extended to all, the wase mgt franchisng has not been effective, we literarily wait for these cart pushers. Their service is always available helpful and affordable. instead of looking for ways to make their work legit, making things easier for them to transport their dirties to the designated dumping sites they are busy arresting them.. Shey na him pikin/wife go come carry my dirty for weekend abi?? Misplaced priority.

Northern PDP supporters need to sensitise their region on the calamities going on in this APC government. The rates of criminality will increase, some of these cart pushers are relocating to other states. In ph here new faces of cart pushers in our estates everyday.

One compactor costs in the region of N70m (without import duty).

That's somewhere in the region of N105B

They simply don't have that kind of money (yet)

Which is why they've quietly called back some PSPs

Pure unadulterated Greed...

Those cart pushers carrying waste and dumping them should be the ones to be apprehended while those cart pushers scavenging for scrap metal or condemned iron as its popularly called should be allowed to go about their legitimate business as they also help to reduce waste and recycle scrap metal.
That's my suggestion though.
Mind you its a suggestion so don't start quoting me out of context. Other wise scrap metal will fall on you

It's not only to arrest also provide jobs for them, so that they will not enter into bad activities
Re: Photos Of Cart Pushers Arrested In Lagos As Government Begins Clampdown by Nobody: 9:37pm On Jan 15, 2018
The rule seems overbroad, it is not the least restrictive means of achieving its stated objective...a city is defined by the activities most embraced by its residents....as unsightly as the cartpushers/Alarus might seem to some...they've become a defining feature of the Lagos cosmopolitan metropolis...a better idea will be to upgrade the carts into something more in line with modern trends...an outright ban on any sort of cartpusherism/Alarulism deprives residents of a revenue source and robs Lagos of an iconic feature.

In the early 80s baskets were used to carry goods in the market for customers to their cars and not carts or wheelbarrow since the government did not say anything about baskets to carry load I suggest the cart pushers should revert to the old ways of doing things by using backers and balancing the load on their heads.
For real baskets was use dto hustle in the 80s

We have had governors in recent times whom out of their own ambition have made their tenure a time worthy to remember from their self executed development programs.
These are persons worthy of a higher job in our country. lets stop making our country a piece of cake for thieves and people without any plan for you an I.
