From this excerpt, one could infer that Jesus spoke in the sense of vengeance and stirring up strife (prov15:1) I.e. If one has any chance to avoid it in a peaceful way, do it. But your comment has just implied that we should fold our hands when we see people doing sth. wrong even if we had the chance to stop them. When Jesus saw people trading in the temple (matt21:12) he did not watch them do that to God's temple. He had to protect it physically. If a person is being abused in any sense would you say that they should not try to protect themselves from harm. Pls don't think because Jesus said "follow peace with all men" when a bad person wants to cut you, you shouldn't struggle for defense (u write of vengeance) . BTW self defense is not vengeance and that scripture u quoted, and in fact Matt 5 is about morals and love to subdue vengeance. Nothing about self defense. *June 2013: Gunmen killed 48 people in Kizara village, Maru LGA, Zamfara state.
*April 2014: Gunmen invaded Unguwar Galadima village in Zamfara state and killed over 200 people.
*February 2016: 50 people were killed in Kwanar Dutse village in Maru, Zamfara state by unknown criminals.
*November 2016: 36 miners were killed while working in Bindin in Maru, Zamfara by unknown criminals.
*November 2017: 23 people were killed in Tungar Kahau and Mallamawa in Shinkafi LGA, Zamfara state by unknown criminals.

These are just a few of such killings in Zamfara over the years. Farmers, traders, herdsmen etc around Dansadau forest area of Zamfara lived in fear or fled due to these attacks. Then add Kaduna, Plateau, Taraba etc. Zamfara is part of old Sokoto state that produced retired military officers like Sultan of Sokoto Sa'ad Abubakar, late Bello Khaliel, late Tanko Ayuba, Gen. Ali Gusau, Dauda Komo, late Sule Ahman, Muhammed Bawa, Muhammad Magoro, late Musa Bamaiyi, Ishaya Bamaiyi, Emir of Zuru Sani Sami, Mansur Dan Ali, Emir of Gwandu Ilyasu Bashar, Dangiwa Umar, former Emir of Gwandu Mustafa Jokolo etc. None of these retired officers threatened revenge or called for war.
The youths of these states did not blame other tribes or any religion on social media. Nobody called for division of Nigeria. They simply tasked govt to do more to find the criminals and protect all Nigerians.

We are all pained, worried and angered by what happened in Benue, Zamfara, Taraba, Rivers etc. But why would youths use the condemnable killings in Benue to resort to ethnic, religious, regional and even political hate campaigns against a section of Nigeria and even call for division of the country?
How many of us even bothered to hold prayers for victims of Zamfara, Taraba, Kaduna, Plateau or Rivers? Have we bothered to know if the victims of New Year massacre in Rivers are buried and how their families are doing?

But some of us are getting carried away by hate while we have common enemy: criminals! Families continue to flee. Farming (both crops and livestocks) continues to decline. Poverty continues to rise as a result.
We must support security agents and govts at all levels to find lasting peace and prosperity.

May their souls all rest in peace. May the criminals be made to face justice. May we find lasting peace in Nigeria and rest of the world.

Yes it's everyone's right,but when xtians talk of self defense they mean a different thing.It isn't the usual fending off an attack but rather,out of sheer cowardice,cowing in the face of an attack.Where their "self defense" comes in is where those who could escape the attack or the injured or the deceased kindred launching an attack based on a "guilt by association",were hinged on ethnicity or religion,or whatever link however remote to their attacker,innocent people,most preferably defenceless children,the aged and women are gruesomely massacred by them,with cheers from their fellow xtians here on nairaland.
