CLI: LASG, PSP OPERATORS SETTLE COURT CASE DELAYING IMPLEMENTATION

...As Judge Lauds Parties For Embracing Amicable Resolution

The Lagos State Government and operators of Private Sector Participation (PSP) in the waste management sector have agreed to amicably resolve dispute leading to a suit before a Lagos High Court in Igbosere on the implementation of the Cleaner Lagos Initiative (CLI).

The CLI, which is a new waste management policy of the State Government, was established to address, enforce and regulate the challenges in the solid waste management systems within the State in line with global best practices.

The PSP operators had sued the State Government and an environmental utility group contracted to implement the new initiative, Visionscape Group, to contest the alleged decision to jettison them for a new investor for the collection and disposal of waste in the State.



At the last adjourned date, parties in the suit had informed the court of their readiness to settle the matter out of court...

Their trucks have functional air-conditioning systems...truck drivers earn better than some private transporters

Current psp truck operators make so much profit without re-investing..

The PSP should be allowed to work in sattelite towns of Lagos for now and gradually phased out as Vision get a better grip of the environment ... Vision scape looks really prepared and are sure to make a difference ..
