PDP Reacts To Obasanjo's Letter To President Buhari by LadyNaija(f): 8:51pm On Jan 23, 2018
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described the counsel by former president Olusegun Obasanjo that President Muhammadu Buhari should not seek a re-election in 2019 as courageous, timeous and patriotic, adding that such has vindicated its position The party however rejected the call by Chief Obasanjo for a third force saying that such would amount to repeating the same blunder that brought in the ideologically vacuous APC and the Buhari Presidency which has now wrecked havoc on the nation in its almost three years of governance.

PDP national publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, in a statement on Tuesday, January 23 said the fact that President Buhari and the APC have failed our nation is obvious to all, adding that Nigerians have already taken an irrevocable position against them ahead of the 2019 elections.

According to the PDP, Chief Obasanjo’s counsel has rekindled the fate of the people in the democratic process, stressing however that the solution does not lie in creating another political quicksand in a third force but consolidating on a rescue mission with the repositioned PDP which Nigerians have already embraced. It said Nigerians would recall that in the heat of 2015 elections, many citizens, who claimed to have become tired of the PDP and its government, opted for a coalition of strange bedfellows who had little or no experience in governance as a vehicle for electoral victory. Expectedly, in their confusion, they have plunged us into this regrettable situation that has brought our nation to its knees. PDP maintained that “repeating the old mistake of congregating political strangers cannot help our nation at this time, more so, when the few concerns raised by the former President about the PDP no longer obtain under the refocused and rebranded PDP.

“The PDP is now standing on a truly democratic ground that perfectly represents and reflects the hopes and aspirations of all Nigerians irrespective of their class, creed or tribe. “That is why our great party has now, more than ever before, become a center of the new patriotic and broad-based engagements by well-meaning Nigerians and coalitions across board, including past leaders, in rekindling our democratic process that places priority on returning power to the people. “This accounts for the reason former President Obasanjo, just like most Nigerians today, are concerned about the quality of presidential candidates to be presented by various parties for the 2019 election.

“The fact is that while the APC is already caught up with President Buhari, the PDP is open for a new engagement that will throw up the President, which our nation truly deserves at this crucial moment. “We therefore call on Nigerians, including all our leaders across board, to come together to rebuild our nation on PDP’s consolidated base rather than traversing on another learning curve.” In a statement: T

he Way Out: A Clarion Call for Coalition for Nigeria Movement, Obasanjo said President Buhari has performed far below expectation just as he added that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is not the solution to the country's challenges. Obasanjo asked Buhari to honourably dismount from the horse and join the league of former leaders whose experience, influence, wisdom and outreach can be deployed on the side line for the good of the country.

Here we see the same insecurity that drove PDP to do silly things before they were kicked out.
They are afraid of any form of opposition never prepared to please the people but foøl them.

The PDP is not in anyway better than the APC. The only edge they have now is the disappointment people have towards this govt. which can be to their advantage if they will provide a credible and people acceptable candidate at the polls.
Really don't know when Nigerians will get good governance.

Nigerians do not need APC nor PDP.
Time for party politics should be jettisoned for our collective good.
What this great Nation needs is a proven leader with credible track record and achievements (believe me they abound in Nigeria).
Time to shop for such a candidate is now!

As it stands PDP still remains the only party that has those existing poltical structures on ground and grassrroot support across the 36 states that can send Buhari packing from Aso Rock

All these coalition , 3rd force and Red Card movement springing up this year with less than one year to the election, will not even win one state, they don't even have poltical strucutres in 35% of the 36 states, they should have started mobilization since 3 years ago before election not less than a year before election, they are jokers, you can't win the presidency when u don't have political strucutres across the 36 states with less than a year before election

The bitter truth is PDP is still the only Party that has those political strucutres and grassroot movement across the 36 states of the Federation to retire Buhari to his village in DAURA

Any other opposition political party and coalition are just playing to the gallery

Whenever I remember Obasanjo letter, I remember how his daughter (Iyabo) blasted him when he wrote that of GEJ. Everyone that helped this Govt to power will regret it. waiting for EFCC to go against OBJ.

This is not about the person of Buhari. This is about performance. Baba Obasanjo has not said anything new. His writer just came to Nairaland, compiled our ideas and rephrased it. That's all. If it took Buhari 16 years to become Nigeria's president, it definitely meant he probably has good intentions. But obviously good intentions alone does not necessarily translate into good governance. Buhari is in position to make history, if he refuses to re-contest. He'll be the first Nigerian president to keep to his word on that. He will shock the world just like Jonathan surprised him with a congratulatory call. But if he decides otherwise, then it will clearly imply that he doesn't love Nigeria. There has never been a time in Nigeria when everyone is so agitated. The break-point for me in Buhari's administration was his refusal to disclose how much loots were recovered, only to hear that they have started spending the funds. If you ask 50 people of their concerns about PMB's government, you will get atleast 20 to 30 different responses. Your don't struggle to see their misdeeds. As painful as it may seem, PMB knows the honorable thing to do. It will be disappointing if he doesn't.
Finally, watch as INVESTIGATION INTO CASES INVOLVING OBASANJO WILL COMMENCE SOON. QUOTE ME THEN. #myonekobo

Why would PDP reject a third force?....it's obvious the party is scared of competition!

Buhari has failed the nation.
Never have I witnessed such gross incompetence, lack of morality and a deleterious display of heartlessness.
As much as I'm not so ebullient to see PDP get back into power, anything would be more acceptable than this current regime.
We Nigerians need to excogitate, plan and come up with a conspicuous decision on the governance of our country.
Moving out from that asovilla that has been tainted with the blood of lots of innocent people will be a remarkable first step. Furthermore an avant garde mode of leadership should be established, the practice of putting old dying men at the seat of power is so hackneyed at this point and hasn't fetched any credible result.
Let's be woke and creative!
