The federal government will take advantage of the goodwill it now has in the international scene to move the country forward.

This was disclosed by the minister of foreign affairs, Odein Ajumogobia, while fielding questions from journalists on the arrival of the acting president and his team.

Acting President Goodlluck Jonathan landed at the presidential wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International airport, Abuja at about 10:30am with his team and was received by the secretary to federation, Yayale Ahmed, ministers of the FCT, Aviation, Interior and Special duties and some members of the private sector.

Speaking to journalists, Mr. Ajumogobia said the visit was a very successful one and the government will take advantage of the enormous goodwill Nigeria has outside the country .


According to him, "It was a very successful visit and I think it is important that Nigeria engages with the world again and I think we did so in a very open and successful way. The meeting between President Obama and the acting president was very successful and I think it is very important; there is a lot of goodwill, enormous goodwill for Nigeria outside Nigeria and I think that we are back to try and take advantage of that goodwill, for the betterment of Nigeria.

"You could see for yourself the interviews that were given to BBC, CNN; in fact it was a very short trip but in that short trip there was so much excitement and everyone was very keen to meet the acting president."

The acting president and his team left the country on 10 April to be guests of President Barack Obama of the United States of America and to attend the nuclear summit, which held in Washington DC.
