ABUJA- The Senate has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to as a matter of urgency sack the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu.

According to the Senate, failure to do that, it would henceforth not attend to nominations from the Presidency, just as it vowed that it will not in any way, jettison its earlier position on the EFCC boss. According to the Senate, the impasse would persist until its power of confirmation of nominees to the boards of commissions established by enabling laws, but not listed in the 1999 Constitution as amended was clarified. Senate spokesman, Sabi Abdullahi made this known on Thursday while clearing the air on the controversies surrounding its suspension of the confirmation of nominees from president Muhmmadu Buhari.

As much as I don't know the problem those senators have with magu,The president should know that he is not the only one fit for the job and should sack that man how can the oga of an anti-graft agency be on acting capacity.

Useless senators that is not a matter of urgency now considering the wanton killings in the country but because they don’t want to be accountable. Useless Shehu Sani and senseless Ben Bruce bunch of hypocrites are among those clamoring for Magu’s removal. If you have nothing to fear then let the man be.

vested on them to reject, but can not disqualify . No needs of going to the court if the senators knows why they are their as senators . Because it is already in the constitution

if you are rejected you can be re nominated, but if you are disqualify that is all you can never be re nominated again. Remember a former minster BORISHADE BABALOLA during OBASANJO'S tenure was rejected twice by the senate and obasanjo re nominated him again he was later accepted by the same senators. Just in 2016 BUHARI nominated an 80 years old man as an ambassador. the senate rejected him he was re nominated, and the same senators confirm him as ambassador .

Renominating or reappointing someone that has already been rejected by the senate is an attempt to circumvent the law and it is unfortunate that this presidency thinks with all the important work that needs to be done it is better for them to spend their political capital and burn bridges with Senate over this issue.

Quite frankly senate has been modest in their protest on this issue, otherwise they would have opted not to consider any nominations at all not just heads of agencies not explicitly mentioned in the constitution. That way this Presidency will understand what gridlock looks like.
