10 reasons why President Buhari Must Act on Corruption in MDAs
https://mrrightsng..com.ng/2018/02/10-reasons-why-president-buhari-must.html

1. MDAs forces people to be corrupt
The most corrupt and terrible places for corruption in Nigeria are the federal ministries, departments and agencies. A simple transaction that should take a day or two, could take several months if you do not go around to ‘see’ those who should move file from one desk to the other. #BuhariMustAct to stop it

2. MDAs waste govt resources on bogus projects
Nigerian Ministries, Agencies and Departments, MDAs, waste an estimated N37.8 billion due to bogus and failed IT projects. Most agencies of government see projects as the easiest way to steal government money. About 90 per cent of MDAs’ IT projects fail annually while the remaining 10 said to be successfully implemented does not deliver any value for money for the government. #BuhariMustAct

3. The racket of ghost workers
Federal Government lost more than N120Billion annually on ghost workers. The figure will definitely increase as government continues to unravel more ghost workers buried deep in Federal Civil Service payrolls. Those responsible for these shaddy deals have not been prosecuted. #BuhariMustAct

4. Inflation of contracts
Bureau for Public Procurement (BPP) connived with heads of MDAs and private contractors to inflate contracts, to the detriment of the Federal Government. Monumental corruption is going on in the BPP. That is where we have the contracts that are supposed to be awarded at N20 million, but awarded at N200 million. Procurement is responsible for over 70 percent of corruption in Nigeria. To get the fight against corruption right, we must also get our procurement very correct. BPP is failing to perform mandatory post-procurement audit and corrupt issuance of certificate of no objection. #BuhariMustAct to stop it

5. Fraud and Stealing from the sick
The insurance companies and the MDAs regularly connived to defraud the Federal Government yearly in insurance premiums - running into billions of naira. While most insurance firms receive premiums in excess of the amount due to them from the MDAs, the heads of MDAs later retrieve the overpaid premiums and convert them to private use. #BuhariMustAct to stop it

6. Over N2 trillion unremitted funds
Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) have failed to remit about 2 trillion naira into federal government coffers. Information from the Office of the Auditor-General of the Federation shows that, all Federal Governments Statutory Corporations, Commissions, Authorities and Agencies mostly do not submit their annual accounts and audited reports. This is in violation of the provisions of Section 85 (3) of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria”#BuhariMustAct

7. Budget Padding
The source of every corrupt practice in public institutions starts from the budget. The fiscal document is prepared to include corrupt tendencies and unassuming figures that are hardly detected by the management of an organization who are the sole recipients of the corrupt proceeds. These are evident in the budgets of ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) in Nigeria; for instance, MDAs always budget for medical expenses for their staff despite being covered under National Health Insurance Scheme social contribution services. #BuhariMustAct

8. Secret Recruitment
Millions of Nigerian men and women are denied equal opportunities in recruitment's. Illegal recruitment into the Federal Civil Service, the catalyst of bloated wage bills and recurrent expenditures, is still flourishing. From CBN, SSS, FRSC, NNPC and others, illegal and secret recruitment continue to take place. #BuhariMustAct to stop it

9. Tool in the hand of politicians
No corrupt politicians could embezzle money without involving public officials, especially in the MDAs and parastatals. They are the catalyst to massive looting and mismanagement of public resources. #BuhariMustAct

10. Failure in MDG and budget implementation
Massive corruption in various ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) are the main reasons Nigeria could not achieve her Millennium Development Goals (MDG) targets. It is also the reason why we have contentiously failed to implement our budgets. MDAs such as the health ministry, water resources ministry and the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NPHCDA) mismanaged hundreds of billions of naira meant to specifically help Nigeria achieve the MDG targets. #BuhariMustACt

Nothing would happen. Buhari has shown a certain lack of inertia in dealing with corruption involving his appointees. Soyinka said he's in a trance!
