Speaker of the house of representatives, Yakubu Dogara has given reasons why President Muhammadu Buhari and other elected officials like governors should not be addressed as leaders of their political parties in the state or national level.

While receiving a delegation from the International Republican Institute led by its leader, Daniel Twinning, Dogara said;

"There is one problem that we must address in this country and that is that elected officials, especially those in the Executive, are always regarded as leaders of the political party.

That is where we have a very serious problem in this country and if an elected Executive is the leader of the political party, the situation you find on ground is that every political actor within the entire party architecture must pander to the whims and caprices of that elected official."
in effect: THE CABAL is the true leadersshi of APC!

Such can only be expected where politics of principle and conviction exists. So far what's in place in the country is politics of expediency. The country is in dire need of a good number of conscientious - or at least non-conformist -
people in the political sphere in order to experience politics of principle and conviction. . . And by extension a turn around of the country's fortune.
Exactly. . .our parties don't have specific positions on economic, social, political, issues. All they have are promises of 'a better Nigeria' with no roadmap on how to get there. We don't have economic conservatives/liberals. We don't have guys who preach big government vs libertarians. None of that. Just criminals begging, bribing and hoping that some day, they'll be elected as KINGS to RULE and not SERVE, for whatever time the constitution allows. Its a reason why these same criminals can jump ship easily. In sane democracies, a politician going back and forth between parties loses their credibility because the public won't trust their stance on issues. We don't really understand what democracy means in this country.

Succinctly stated.

Hon. Speaker. You are right. The problem we have in this country is mediocrity. It is really shameful seen how State Governors fall on each other in order to worship the President just because for their mind, he is the Ayatollah of their party. Having mediocre minds in positions of leadership is a very terrible curse.

True.

Zuma wouldn't have resigned if he were to be the leader of his party.

We still have a long way to go in the governance of this country.
this just showed you know nothing abouut international politics, go back and read about Zuma issue, he was the leader of the party until last year. The new president was elected party leader last year so he was a natural successor toe Zuma

Your response confirmed my statement though you seems to lack comprehension ability.

Was Zuma the leader of his party when he was made to resign? I hope you'll understand me now.
