Cannot be. Hawks are notably smaller than their predatory cousins and a lot less common in Nigeria. They are rather known for the speed of attack than carrying capacity. Likely to be the more common and far bigger eagle.

Hawks and most big birds of prey take any animal they can carry off to their nests to be consuned. A toddler and a new born baby is no exception . The harpi eagle the biggest predatory bird has been known to snatched fully grown goats and monkeys.
