New evidence showing that the Nigerian military was informed that Boko Haram was planning mass abductions in Yobe State has emerged. A document obtained by SaharaReporters indicated that the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) was notified by the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) of plans by Boko Haram militants to carry out a massive attack in February.

The confidential memo dated February 6, 2018, and titled "Plans By BHT To Carry Out Massive Attacks In Maiduguri And Damaturu" was signed by Brigadier-General EA Adeniyi, he stated that intelligence gathered by the agency indicated that the most likely targets of large-scale Boko Haram attack will be the University of Maiduguri, mosques, markets, and parks in Borno. To carry out the attacks, the document further revealed that Boko Haram had hired about 17 suicide bombers, who were ready to strike as well as carry out abductions.

Specifically, the document stated and warned of mass abductions:"Similarly, mass abductions are ongoing purportedly to be used as Personnel-Borne Improvised Explosive Device"

This is in addition to Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device, using especially Golf cars with registration numbers from states of the North," the document stated.

To forestall a realisation of the terrorists' plans, the DIA said it was directed to request the DHQ to instruct troops of Operation Lafiya Dole to maintain high alert and vigilance. It also instructed that troops at checkpoints should pay special attention to Golf cars, but approach such with caution.

The military, however, disregarded the instruction to stay on high alert, as troops were withdrawn from Dapchi in Yobe state, where over 100 school girls were kidnapped by Boko Haram from an all-girls high school on Monday 19th of February 2018, the girls were later taken to Kanama on the Nigerian-Nigerien border according to sources.

Deputy Director (Public Relations), the Theatre Command, Colonel Onyema Nwachukwu in a statement, said the military should not be blamed for the latest round of horror, as troops handed a peaceful and calm situation to the Police. however, the Nigerian police has denied the claim, stating there was not proper handing-over done to their men.

The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Sumonu Abdulmaliki, said the military never handed over Dapchi town to the Police.

In a personally signed statement, Mr. Abdulmaliki explained that Yobe State remains a security emergency being monitored by security agencies.

We know already. This is just solely for 2019. Watch as the said military will do commando style and rescue those girls soon. Just to boost Buhari's chance of winning 2019 general election.

So how did you arrive at this from the "leaked" letter? You say the DIA and the Military have the same mission, yet, you still ended flouting your logic. Or is it that DIA is under UN while Nigerian is under the Fed govt?

Essentially, your mind is fixed on wailing, whichever way it ends. If they are rescued, it was stage managed, if they are not rescued, the govt is incomptent. Keep running from pillar to post because of 5 percent.

Abeg, I have gone through the letter 10 times,
Where was the kidnap plan in Dapchi stated in the letter?
if you ask me i would say the military left Dapchi to defend Maidugiri and Damaturu.
Probably the letter was written by Boko Haram undecided

It's obvious to well discerning minds that the BH insurgency as a whole is a political charade that is seriously benefitting many people in the corridor of power @ a sad expense of precious lives.

God will help us ọooo. Whenever the government or the army says they have defeated boko haram, the group stages a horrible attack.
Can't they fight these people quietly and let their actions do the talking?

The military now feels like "The Northern Army". The warning letter sounds vague. It was like a general warning.

come to think of it, the rate at which highly sensitive govt documents have bn finding their way to media houses in this regime really shows that lots of ppl in government are pissed and frustrated with this stagnant govt. best they can do to avoid the hammer is to divulge secret memos secretly.

It's a poorly planned game by the cabal to boost Buhari's ratings going towards the elections after seeing that millions now know he is as incompetent and fraudulent as the worst we could have ever had.
The plan is to see those same girls rescued towards the end of the year but they planned it poorly and also didn't reckon with the fact that many Nigerians could see that the kidnap had all the hallmarks of a 2019 propaganda gimmick.

Sahara reporters and Premium times seems to be the only news agency that attempts investigative journalism...

Even with their flaws, I think other media agencies should learn from them.

See how the supposedly greatest military in Africa are trading blames and disgracing themselves.

We already know...

The girls will be rescued two weeks to election to boost buharis chance in 2019.

So in as much as l sympathize with the victims and their loved ones, they should relax, their girls are political tools to use in achieving political victory in 2019
