Police have arrested a man for suspected murder following the death of his wife.

According to reports, the wife tragically died after he allegedly used a mortar bomb as a intimacy gadget while they both engaged in drunken sex at their home in Arequipa, Peru.

The Sun reports that Ruben Valera Cornejo is believed to have inserted the explosive inside his wife.

He, however, told police that the activities of the night before were blurry but he recalls his wife asked that he used objects from their home as intimacy gadgets.

Cornejo claims after the sexual intercourse, he passed out and only realized what had happened when he woke up to find his wife unresponsive.

Police officers on the case said they found the mortar with blood stains and pubic hair on it in a handbag among other intimacy gadgets.

Javier Arana, Arequipa police chief said that the mortar, was around 16 inches long and around two inches wide.
