There have been a serious uproar among the ranks and file, officers and civilian staff working with d Nigeria police force as February salary has been grossly debited with huge deduction by IPPIS in d name of Fed govt new tax policy.

Yes huge disaster because of d fact dat people are already complaining dat salaries are no longer enough in dis (Buhari) regime and require upward review, but all they could get is huge deduction is dis fare APC. imagine deductions as high as 10k, 20k & even >30k, how can we survive dis? please affected personal share ur experience, mine was 23k. what do we do? Also is dis new tax policy also affecting other civil and public servants?

The IPPIS platform charges tax on Allowances, including special allowances, unlike the GIFMIS platform since salaries are now consolidated. The end result is that the pension contribution of the tax payer is increased but charged against the govt's part of the contribution. This is the likely cause of the reduction in salary

There is nothing like upward review of tax (PAYE) in the Civil Service because it would cut across board and not only Police personnel. IPPIS staff should explain exactly what happened. Probably, problem occurred during the upload.

Eya, I feel for gallant officers!!!
I really doubt it is an upload problem.
My guess is that the top brass deducted the cash for one bogus scheme or another, very common in finance Dept of paramilitary outfits.
It might also be some kind of backlog on previous tax or other approved deduction computation

Me thinks they have just been moved to IPPIS platform and other federal civil servants on IPPIS were started on new tax regime November 2016.Workers protested then but nothing was done to reduce the tax rate.

IPPIS is not about any tax policy either new or old. It is as I understand it to checkmate the recurrent issues of ghost workers in the public service and financial mismanagement of subhead 1 (salaries )
And yes, it's not only in the Police, many others faced the same issue but not just deductions. Some people who were being underpaid had a few naira added while some who were being overpaid had deductions made from their net pay.
I am yet to see why we should start calling Buhari names yet.

As a FG employee, I started paying the CORRECT UPDATED TAX (as they termed it) about two years ago. Then it increased to 100k from 30k. All the increase began when migration to IPPIS was completed in that sector. Currently, monthly tax is 150k. 150 thousand o, not kobo.

I can't complain, can I?

remele2:
well i since its Police,, Am Happy incase any body wants to beat me, am at home ooooo

Don't think you are immune. If you work with the FG and this is done as an arbitrary increase, especially if the police had hitherto been paying the correct tax, then you should be prepared as the fraud will likely be extended to other sectors. I'm somewhat prepared for another wave of onslaught from those thieves in Aso rock.
