I marvel that noone has posted in a reply.Do not fret yourself.Mostly it is the regular what are you going to do where will you stay, what is your marital status, do you have any ties to US or Nigeria etc questions, what is your means of support and who is responsible for the expenses etc.
If you have all your papers and supporting documents okay, you then need to be psychologically prepare and calm for any questions that the Consular may confront you with.
If he/ she feels satisfy with you at least 6:10 you may be lucky.Other wise well, i's not the end of the world.
But do not go in expecting the heaven of being approved.Travelling to US should not be a do or die matter. If you are refuse, note why you are refuse and make corrections forthwith in your next venture to any other embassy or US if you still want to repeat your longings to holiday there.
But from what you wrote, job and letter etc, you may be considered. But like I said it is no win win situation. Be prepare and be yourself.

They'd probably make up their mind in the first 2 minutes, so whatever you do, make sure your charm flows out in the first 5 minutes. Smile but not too much, maintain good eye contact but don't just stare, take your time to speak but don't speak too slow, and if they ask any question you don't understand or one you find confusing/trickish, it is better you tell the interviewer to explain than jump into the answer.

Likely questions are

Why do you want to go to the states

Likely answer: I'm having a short break at work so i'd like to spend some time off with my uncle {make sure he's really your uncle or whatever relative you are mentioning}, and i also believe its the right opportunity for me to get to know some interesting parts of the world.

What would you be doing in the states

I will be visiting {mention names of places you'd like to visit}, i will also be spending some time off with some old friends, shopping, as well as some freelance photography, i will be doing everything to have some great time

how long will you be spending over there

Since you are going on a tourist visa, its always advisable to answer this in days, as it gives the interviewer a mindset that you don't plan to stay long. . . so instead of saying 2 months, i'd rather much just say 60 days

Do you have any relatives? what is the status of him/her?

Yes i do. I have a close Uncle who has been living in New York with his family for over 8 years, he's an engineer and he's aware of my travel plans.

What work do you do? How much is your annual net take home?

I work as a Quality control officer at 7 up bottling company and i'm also an active investor in the Nigerian stock and property markets. On an annual basis, i net close to 4 million on all my total investments.

In all, they'd be looking for strong ties with Nigeria.

That portion in bold will raise a red flag especially for people with not so strong ties to Nigeria.

@ Friend, if N500,000 is all you've got left it might be a problem and it's possible it might not be. I'd suggest also that you never tell them you have any uncle or relative or whatever there. You already said you're staying in an hotel so I don't think you need to mention if you any contact in the US. Remember, all the interview is is trying to convince your interviewer that you'd not abscond. The guideline for them is to always assume that anyone applying for a visa wouldn't come back. Personally, I'd have suggested traveling to other countries first if this is your first time abroad. However, anything is possible. Goodluck!

Ok, be careful when u go into the embassy, its all about choices, sitdown or stand up, one will be good mark the other will be looked upon negatively and a bad score will be accorded. Smile small or smile big, one will be seen as arrogance the other will be seen as no confidence, one will score u good marks the other negative mark. If you look too much or you look less, one will score u good mark the other will score u negative. You are asked a question, you give a lengthy answer or short answer one will could give u a good score the other a negative score. Your dress sense?? you wear english dress, this could be regarded as an imitation and likely transcend into the likelyhood of ur absconding. You dress african, you re seen as too locally made and would nt likely fit into the life style in yankee.
Your account!, too much money above N2,000,000 your source of wealth is questionable and they fear u might be related to James Ibori. Your account is below N700,000 they fear u re a hustler, will to invest on ur trip with hope of hitting it big in yankee.
In a nut shell American embassy is a torture center where they torment ur feelings, u go in with high hope and come out bashed and dazed feeling the world has left u behind. Its worst than having a heart break from a lover. Sometimes it takes 6months to one year to get over it.

Please kindly advise on the Consular officer that you interviewed before you came up with this your theory . I was not aware that consular officers gave a detailed psychological analysis during visa interviews . Otherwise I agree with you a valid reason for going and luck (God's blessing ) is very much required.

@ebjay this your case is funny oh I usually urge some cockiness but it seems like it might have been your downfall, and probably your aunt you said you were going to stay with

Its usually best to use a hotel reservation for america

@ebjay
Use a hotel reservation and still mention u intend to visit your aunt! But not staying with her, and also try to emphasize/highlight a change in your circumstances since your last previous application otherwise it would be really difficult to get the visa, maybe new job, payrise or something

@Godson201333, your issue is complex. Why?
You said you just came back from UK and in forth-day you applying to visit the USA for 2 weeks vacation. Does that mean, you're touring round countries while you should be at work? Now, you seeking for 2 weeks off-work like you said while you just arrived from UK. Your consular might have assumed that you've spent your vacation in UK and if you travel to USA, you might not come back since you don't have anything tieing-you down here in Nigeria (like Marriage).

Basically you're meant to use hotel reservation even if you have your aunty's invitation but it should be for backup (if need may arise, that is, if you were asked) after tendering your hotel reservation as your point of traveling.

Hello,
Please can any one help me with this question? I travelled to south africa in 2013 with my Daughter and I applied for south african work premit but not yet out (still in pending) but I had to come back this year due to some reasons. But on my daughters passport I was told to pay a penalty when coming back to their country because she over stayed. Now my question is, I want to apply for American visa with my daughter and I like to know if the penalty will not affect them not given us the visa.
Thank you and your kind response will be appreciated.

If you're going for a conference you may use your company account and sponsorship letter most be given by your company but secondly you most attach your own statement of account on it. Just to make if strong enough for the VO. Wish you all the best
