That bridge will be the longest bridge in West Africa and it will also put Kano State in the world map. shi kena. 4 Likes 1 Share |

this does not make sense. There is no traffic under the bridge so why making a flyover? |

plainol:Yes you maybe right but this passes through the innermost market areas in Kano I.e Bata and main market areas. These are business districts and as much as I believe redirecting traffic or relocating the current market elsewhere would have been a bit cheaper. This is still the most effective way of curtailing the traffic. You have a situation where large market parts is in the middle of two populated areas of Kano and the traffic from one side to the other is enormous. So People who have no biz at the market need not pass the underlay. 2 Likes |

arinzeejikonye: Does Dangi roundabout really need a flyover? The major place in need of a flyover has already been taken care of by "gada lado" it is just a ploy to steal money as I don't think it is necessary |

Re: Photos Update On Kano 2km Sabongari Flyover by adanny01(m): 2:17pm On Mar 17, 2018 |
plainol: Leave engineering to engineers. The under pass is already a dual carriageway but the challenge is that the road has too many access roads and properties that access the road directly. This will constantly cause traffic jams and increase travel time. If they plan the road wider, a lot of properties will be affected and it doesn't make the access roads disappear. The problem just reduces but will not disappear while the expansion will gulp huge funds due to compensations and relocations. Construction of a parallel over pass solves the problem permanently. Those who wish to access internal areas of the city need not bother about all the access traffic in the under pass and get to their destination inside the city with no traffic lights or intersections to worry about. The main aim is time of travel. 7 Likes |

rad8:There's mad traffic under that bridge. Part of that road play host to the Sabon gari market and singer where all the major fmcgs have distributors and warehouses. It is useful for those going to bompai area without any business with the market to just ascend the bridge and get down on MM way. However, it was erected mainly to create history as the longest land bridge. Funny ain't it? 1 Like 1 Share |

A wider road would have been a far better, and much cheaper solution. There was no need for this 2km bridge at all. There was none. Anyway, the beans is already spilled. |

Nigerian governors think development is about overhead bridges! Cosmetic projects to siphon funds. The only state that probably needs a bridge of this magnitude is Lagos cos of the huge vehicular traffic in that state! Why spend a lot on building a 2km bridge when cheaper alternatives exist? A state with a very high poverty rate for that matter! |

Funny how the usual hate mingers, bitter and jealous people making noise and spewing their usual negativity in this thread are forever silent about the absurdity and shameful abomination they call flyover in their village. !. This rubbish thing they call flyover in anambra was never built to serve any purpose like traffic decongestion or management since as you all can see, it's not a busy thoroughfare and there are little no serious businesses around to necessitate the flyover. 2. Bridges are built to last for 30 years or more, but this substandard and poorly built bridge in anambra started crumbling just after 1 year of service. 3. And instead of hiring structural engineers that they obviously did not hire in the first place before construction to address the structural damage and recommend a sane and lasting solution, they hired bricklayers to patch and cover the cracks with cement. 4. Many bitter, angry and negative people in this thread forming internet engineers with so much to say are from anambra or that part of the country, but you will never see or hear they utter a single word about that eyesore and shameful project in anambra, but when you post better and quality projects in other places, they are always the first posters on the scene offering their ignorant, negative, bitter, angry and pointless opinions. 5. Sadly for them, their own states and villages have not and can not even commission anything meaningful or embark on any serious projects and the ones they built are worthless, shameful and substandard rubbish. 6. Why not spend some time worrying about and speaking up against the lousy death traps they call flyover in their villages, the backward and representation in their states. 9 Likes 2 Shares |
