Good morning! Here is today’s summary from Nigerian newspapers:

1. Senator Ali Wakili, chairman senate committee on poverty is dead. The senator was said to have died in the early hours of Saturday, in his Abuja residence.

2. Report says no fewer than eight persons have been reportedly killed by a fresh outbreak of meningitis in Bugaje ward in Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State.

3. Report also has it that five persons, including a first year student of the Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma, have been allegedly killed by herdsmen in Ugboha, Esan South East Local and Odiguete Ovia North East Local Government Areas of Edo State.

4. The Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has said the state cannot continue to bury her citizens as a result of continuous attacks by suspected herdsmen. Speaking at St. Bernard’s Primary School, Ugwu-Okpoga, the governor assured that killing of Benue people had come to an end.

5. The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has asked candidates of the 2018 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination candidates whose results have not been released yet to be patient with the board as all results will be processed and published soon. This was disclosed by the Head of Media of the Board, Dr Fabian Benjamin.

6. Residents of Achalla -Umana, mgbakwu in Awka North local government area of Anambra state were thrown into mourning on Friday when a 66-year old woman committed suicide in her room. The deceased, identified as Uzoaku, a mother of two, was said to have hung herself with a rope.

7. Former Catholic priest and popular Uyo-based cleric and radio preacher, Rev. Fr. Patrick Henry Edet, ​is now married. He tied the knot with his fiancee, Inyene Akpan in Akwa Ibom on Saturday after his traditional marriage on Friday.

8. President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday graced the wedding reception of Vice President, Osinbajo’s daughter, Damilola Osinbajo and her husband, Oluseun Bakare. The reception which had many dignitaries in attendance held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

9. Founder of Omega Fire Ministry, Apostle Johnson Suleman, has declared that herdsmen killings will not stop anytime soon. He explained that his conclusion was based on the fact that “someone’s body language” is empowering them.

10. The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has bowed to pressure and amended the part of its 2018 May/June Examination that clashed with the Friday Juma’at prayer. The affected subject is Chemistry 1 and 2, which was originally slated for 2pm to 5pm on Friday, April 20, 2018. Director of Public Affairs, WAEC Nigeria, Mr Demianus Ojijeogu confirmed the change. The paper will be delayed till 2.30 or 3pm the same day.
