The Governorship bid of Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Professor Kolapo Olusola Eleka in the July election got a major boost as youths of the party announced his adoption as their preferred candidate for the contest.

The Peoples Democratic Party National Youth League, an influential youth organisation within the PDP on Tuesday declared their resolve to adopt the Ekiti state number two man and work towards achieving his aspiration to lead the state.

The position of the youth group was made known by Zainab Al-Amin, the group’s National Publicity Secretary on Tuesday evening.

According to the PDPNYL Spokesperson, the adoption of Eleka was premised on the fact that he is the most qualified among all the aspirants vying for the position, and his position as number two man of Governor Ayodele Fayose has best positioned him to consolidate on the good policies of the outgoing governor in his continuity agenda program.

“We are pleased to confirm the position of PDPNYL  National Executive Committee on the adoption of His Excellency, Professor Olusola Eleka. He is the most qualified, well experienced and best suited aspirant for the job at this time”, Zainab stated.

“Our decision to adopt and work towards his project was informed by the resolution of the PDPNYL Ekiti state chapter to work towards the actualisation of Prof. Eleka’s ambition, which we believe was done in good faith”, she added.

When contacted, the acting Southwest Coordinator  Akomolafe Olumide, confirmed the adoption of the Deputy Governor and expressed optimism that he would go all the way to win the PDP’s ticket and the general election.

“I am extremely happy that the NEC has thrown its weight behind Professor Eleka. It wasn’t an easy task as we have long presented him for adoption to our leaders but it is worth the wait. Believe you me, Eleka will sustain the 16-0 legacy set by our great leader, Governor Ayo Fayose, the Osokomole of Oshoko and Professor of politics”, Olumide stated.

In his own remark, the state coordinator of the group in Ekiti State, Comrade Awodigede Oluseye Daniel, expressed joy that the decision of the state chapter has been vindicated and boasted that victory is assured.

“There is no opposition party in Ekiti state as at today. APC is dead and Ekiti people are very much happy with the leadership of Governor Fayose and Deputy Governor Eleka. Nobody can defeat Eleka in the entire 16 local government of Ekiti state. Fayose leads, Ekiti follows”, said Comrade Daniel.

Our medium can confirm that a delegation of the group is to meet with the Deputy Governor over the weekend to formally communicate the decision to him and inform him of plans towards achieving his aspiration.
