A slightly more likely deal at Manchester United is reported in The Daily Mail, who claim Benfica have their beady eyes on Anderson, and that he may be a 'key figure' in United's move for Angel di Maria.

The Argentine winger has been subject of some interest from United, among others, and The Mail claims Benfica want the full £38million of his release clause.

However, a compromise deal could be possible, with Anderson included in a swap deal - plus £10million.

its a distinct possibility although if i had to rob you guys i would be going home with not only schweinstiger but ribery, van bommel, lahm and altintop.

the way i see it, we are not going to get any other striker. it is obvious that berbatov will not be sold unless a good offer comes in and thats unlikely. as of now united have rooney, berbatov, hernandez, diouf, macheda and owen all looking to make impact next season and i dont see any of hem getting sold. the one transfer that i think we should expect more than others is joe cole. i thin SAF has already proven that he is an african in disguise(loves free things) and already has stated an interest in joe cole. if he could take owen on a free i see no reason why he wont do the same with cole. to me it is pretty clear that any signing made now will be a midfield player and if any one is gonna get sold its gonna be mr carrick.

If you think that United were undone by a red card which shouldn't have been more than a verbal caution (especially when Van Bommel got away with persistent fouling throughout the tie) and probably the injury to Wayne Rooney,you would tend to agree with Fergie.
Especially when Bayern eliminated us on the away goals rule.We were quite unlucky in that regard
However I think we didn't offer too much by way of attacking options,so in that sense,we probably didn't deserve to go through.When key players fail to turn up,we can't but blame ourselves.
