Benue state government under the Governor Samuel Ortom led administration has placed 11 Benue companies up for sale to interested investors.


The 11 eleven companies include;

Benue Links
Makurdi Modern Market
Taraku Mills
Mega Foods
Benfruit Wannune Mango/Tomato plant
Benkims Plastic
Katsina Ala Yam Flour
ADC
Fertilizer Blending Plant
Otukpo Burnt Bricks
Benco Roof Tiles

This is coming after the government's inability to pay workers salaries for the past two years despite collecting Paris Club refund and Bailout from the Federal Government.

Reacting to the news, Benue people took to social media to express their dissapointment to the news.

Ortom still have the failure & zombie spirit of the APC still rubbing off on him.Hence ndi Benue should ensure they vote him out.

My friend bought that Burnt brick factory about a year ago from that govt so I dont know what it's doing there , he has been shopping for funds to revamp the place .

He is incompetent as are most Nigerian office holders.

The defacto standards for political office holders are too low and so people who could never successfully run a large or medium sized company find themselves running states and ministries.

Examples :

I'm just tired of this stupid Governor everyday I watch Benue people suffering whenever I drive around makurdi ...Funny enuf most people suffering are his Tiv tribal people who are lazy ,Nepotistic and drunkards Non tribe tribes don't depend on government .

I think selling the companies is a good idea. There's no point in government owning in efficient companies. If they get the sale right, Benue would be better for it and in my opinion, its easier to sell to the right investor than to vote in competent people.

This is a good opportunity to get assets at dirt cheap prices since it seems they are desperate to sell. This is a good business opportunity. Even if u are not using them, just buy them and be using a collateral for bank loans.

I only have a question, what is the function of government if it goes about relinquishing it's responsibility as an employer of labour? I believe it's about time we begin to hold our government to its roles. Look at our Nepa that was sold to private investors, has electricity improved? Fine, critics might want to bring up the telecommunications sector as how MTN, glo and the likes have brought sucor to the highly inept Nitel... Aside that, please mention another one? Visit countries like Libya, the government built houses for the next upcoming generation with no one presently living in them at the moment. What has our government left behind for our future generation? Instead the future looks bleak and we are all shouting sai baba. *spits

If you as a head of government can't manage your responsibilities, I believe you should resign and someone else with sense can do the needful. It's time to hold government to its responsibilities. What about Benue state university and Benue state govt staff quarters, those are the properties am interested in buying. As for Benue links he should not even try to sell it because that transport company is the pride of benue and the reason people still know that there is a state like benue in Nigeria.
