many of us subscribe to this belief, but we are wrong. Mental health issues is not peculiar to the whites. We also have it here, but religion is curbing people from taking their own lives.

I guess I have a lot in common with this guy, based on how his family described him. I'm also a seeker of answers to existential questions. Unfortunately, there are no meaningful answers so far. And to think that life here in this primitive Nigeria is more unbearable than Avicii ever experienced. It gets stressful most times.

Believe me, what you need is to invite Jesus Christ into your heart. You will have peace and the needed answers to your questions.
My life had no meaning before Jesus came into my life. I was just living a frustrated life.

You can never know the beauty and peace in being a born again Christian until you accept Christ.

There are just too many advantages of having Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. Please permit me to mention a few:

1. Peace that money can not buy
2. Divine healing
3. Freedom from destructive habits like drinking, smoking, hard drugs, pornography, masturbation, homosexuality, sodomy, beastiality
4. Physical and spiritual security
5. Abstinence from fornication and adultery. Do you know that many peoples lives have been and are being destroyed because of sex with demons in human flesh. Many people's sperm have been harvested and are being manipulated in the marine world.
6. Access to eternal life in heaven.
7. Etc..
My brothers and sisters, for your own good, accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour.
This is the best decision I have made and anyone can make.
My life would have been in ruins or would be dead by now if I had not accepted Jesus.

Most times, depression leads to denial, then suicide.

Malaria is caused by mosquito while depression got to do with the state of the mind!

Loneliness, not knowing, who you are, worriers, your purpose on earth, all lead to depression.


So our lord Jesus Christ do make a reference to cast all your burden on him. This is one common truth that even the Muslim keep exploding themselves because of this!

Nairaland front-page disagrees with you as we see news of people hanging themselves, taking sniper etc Teebilz almost drowned himself. and it would interest you to know that almost all deaths in Nigeria are the same except road accidents, violent deaths and gunshot wounds. In Nigeria there's no difference between a cardiac arrest death and suicide death. the family would just say "He died 2 days ago" ask them what killed him and they won't say anything sensible. Why? first off most of Nigerian families wouldn't want to tell others their person committed suicide as it would reflect really bad on both them and the dead. Secondly, there's next to no postmortem analysis and autopsy from coroners, pathologists and medical examiners but this is commonplace in developed countries so even Nigerian families may not know their person committed suicide unless he hung himself or they see obvious signs he ingested "sniper"

Suicide here is wildly underreported just like any form of death outside violent deaths (which are glaring)

I think Nigerians actually commit suicide more than developed countries but I really don't have evidence for that
