The lawmaker representing Rivers East Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Andrew Uchendu, has called on the Senate to investigate the circumstances that led to the death of Eva Amadi, a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Member from Rivers State.

Senator Uchendu who made this call through a motion which he moved on the floor of the Senate, wondered why no serious medical attention was given to the deceased Corps member when she sprained her ankle during an excercise session at the Kwara State NYSC Orientation Camp.

He condemned the insensitivity of the Kwara State NYSC State Coordinator and the Camp Commandant over what befell late Miss Eva until her death.

The representative of Rivers East Senatorial District advised the National Headquarters of the NYSC to ensure that only fully qualified Medical Practitioners are deployed to work at NYSC camp clinics all over the country to prevent future occurrences of avoidable deaths.

The Senate after observing a minute silence in honour of late Eva Amadi who died in the service of her country, mandated the Senate Committee on Women Affairs and Youth Development to immediately probe the cause of death and report back for further action.
