For the most part, dating is considered a young person’s game, with many older people being afraid to get back in the dating scene once they’ve crossed a certain age.

While there might be some clear differences between dating in your 20’s anddating over 50, it’s important to know that there are a bunch of reasons for which dating over 50 can be awesome.

1. He’s mature.

Men age like a fine wine. It takes awhile, a long while in fact, for a man to mature. When a woman finally meets a “real” man, she’s very very happy because she has waited so damn long for those sour boy grapes to mature into a luscious, velvety virile gentleman. It was discovered that men don’t fully mature until they are 43-years-old, which turns out to be 11 years after women mature. So imagine how much more mature a man is, ladies, when he turns the big 5-0. He’s ripe for the picking.

2. Life Experience

Young couples go through a lot of turbulent moments throughout their relationships, because they get to phases of life that they have no preparation for. It can be very stressful and many don’t know what to do.

As a result, many couples eventually break up just because they reach a place in a time where they couldn’t handle the circumstances. Being more experienced in life means that you know how to handle most situations and also how to handle the other person.

It’s a win-win for both sides, with less awkward or uncomfortable moments, and more certainty about where your relationship is going.

3. He’s better in bed.

A man 50 years and older is not in a hurry. He wants to please you, and takes great pleasure in making sure that happens. He also knows there is a lot more to do in the bedroom than just regular intercourse. 

4. He loves kids, and doesn’t burden you with his own.

Most men in their 50s (including myself) have older children who are either in high school, college, or out in the working world. Because our kids are older, then, we aren’t asking you to help us raise our kids.

5. He’s financially stable.

Dating when you’re younger is about so much more than romance. Sure, you love your partner, but there are so many things to consider. You need to find a suitable partner you can start a family with.

Someone that does well for themselves and can help you sustain a family. Just loving someone might not be enough in most cases when you’re younger. However when you’re past a certain age, you have the benefit of having already been through those stages of life.

You aren’t looking to start a family, and you’re financially stable on your own. You can just enjoy the company of the other person. Sure, they need to be able to sustain themselves but for the most part you can focus on love.

6. He knows he’s going to pay on the first date.

Guys in their 50s have been in the workforce now for over 30 years. To put it another way, that’s as long as a guy in his 30s has been alive. So, ladies, you don’t have to worry if he’s going to pick up the bill on the first date

7. He doesn’t want you to mother him. 

A man in his 50s is not looking for a woman to mother him. We want to be with women who are our partners, not our parents. We want a woman who is independent, intelligent, fun, passionate, and compassionate. Yes, we love our moms — all good men do. We just don’t want you to be ours.
