How Many Johesu Members Apart From Nurses Are Needed In Europe by MrBigiman: 5:28pm On Jun 02, 2018 |
Listening to Radio Nigeria today made me weep for Nigeria. The armophous body called Johesu keep trying to metamorphose to contend against the Nigerian Doctors. One of such contention is a course which runs a semester system that can a most give u a 200-250 Unit credit load , contending with a Course who's credit load cannot be quantified. And even wanting to do 6years so they can start work from level 12. When the Johesu leader was asked why everyone in the hospital wants to be called Doctor and what precedence it would hold for the average patient who is easily decieved, the question took him off balance. When asked about the role of consultant nurse or lab Scientist, when theres a pathologist, it was an even harder nut to crack. It's obvious that these set of Johesu leadership are clueless and only preparing for a Civil Service that is not sustainable, for as soon as the health sector is privatised many of these crude, cruel and baseless agigitators would be retrenched for redundancy. 4 years back the Cuban Prime Minister visited Nigeria and spoke about Cuban partnership with Nigeria, stating that over a thousand Nigerian trained medical doctors now make up the work force in Cuba, this speaks alot about the quality of the Nigerian Doctor if given an enabling environment. No mention was made of the number of Lab technicians and pharmacists. Also few weeks back the British prime minister said that over 5000 Nigerian trained Doctors now make of the work force in NHS, with 12 Doctors joining them weekly!, that's huge. Also, he never mentioned Lab technicians and pharmacists, yet why do these support staff arrogate so much importance to themselves when in fact the international community does not acknowledge their certificate. It is on record that there is a rather clumsy pathway for Nigerian health workers except Doctors and nurses to practice in the UK. For example, Nigerian Pharmacist have to undergo a full 52weeks retraining for their certificates to be considered in the UK, get the term considered, it's even more cumbersome for Lab technicians, optometrist and radiographers, who are hardly taken seriously when they get to UK. Why then do these support staff make so much noise. How many Nigerian trained pharmacist, lab scientist/technician or consultant cleaners are sort after by the UK? Nigerian Doctors are indeed a special breed as UK even Conduct exams for them in Nigeria and seek modalities to be welcomed in the UK. Ireland, Australia and all speaking European countries welcome Nigerian Doctors with open arms. If Nigeria doesn't curtail the Cancerous group called Johesu, we might see a proliferation of these quacks returning Nigeria to the dark days of the Nigerian health sector. 1 Like 1 Share |

Thegamingorca: They can't do without expos and handouts, how will she see the correlation. But here is the highlight: 1. Nigerian Medical Doctors are prepared for the international stage. 3 dignitaries visited Nigeria and without it being an NMA meeting highlighted Nigerian trained medical doctors and their impact to their economy I.e UK, Cuba and even the UK. 2. Johesu is only agitating and molding members for the civil service which is not sustainable. No private hospital owner will invest in residency for lab technicians or pharmacist. So their agitation ends when the hospitals are ceded to foreign owners 3. A pharmacist certificate is a liability in Europe, as they have to do a full 52weeks course to even be considered to work. In fact no pharmacist can stay in Nigeria and process working in the UK. Meanwhile several Nigerian Doctors are being accredited in the comfort of their country. The part way is even worse for optometrist, radiographers and lab technicians/scientists. |

Skyken99: I have told u a pharmacist need to register for a 52weeks course to even be considered for accreditation in the UK. After that he has to return to Nigeria to search for just jobs and pray home office gives him a tier 2 visa. Pharmacy is not even in the shortage of occupation profession, so that's another challenge. Do u also want to be Educated about MLS? |

Skyken99: I am currently assisting a Lab Scientist in the UK pathway. Check all over nairaland and see whether there's a topic like that, Check for nurses, check for Doctors. Then go figure why it's so. Lab technicians are going nowhere, except to be phlebotomists in US. If u need help though, I may be moved to assist. |

Well to me, it sounds unreasonable for other health workers to be seeking equal remuneration with doctors. I hope this strike issue is well sorted out |

Babybush:They can't even properly treat malaria and typhoid! I laugh at Nigerian medical doctors. They always claim to know it all, yet our politicians and wealthy elites go abroad to treat malaria! I wish the national assembly could pass a bill making autopsies compulsory for all deaths in our hospitals. It'll help to expose the incompetencies of our medical doctors!! 7 Likes |
Re: How Many Johesu Members Apart From Nurses Are Needed In Europe by MrBigiman: 11:50am On Jun 03, 2018 |
Jman06: But the British prime ministers say there are over 5000 Nigerian trained Doctors in the UK and 12 migrate to the UK weekly. Also America has far more than 5000 Nigerian trained Doctors and Cuba claimed just above a thousand. I have not mention Australia, Ireland and Canada. If these guys see Nigerian Doctors as competent, then the problem here might me quackery, enabling environment or Johesu making the condition of service toxic and unpalatable. That being said the probability of a Politician who runs away from Nigerian hospitals because of Johesu, seeing a Nigerian GP in the UK or US is close to 20%. Rather pathetic! |
Re: How Many Johesu Members Apart From Nurses Are Needed In Europe by Jman06(m): 12:44pm On Jun 03, 2018 |
MrBigiman:Assuming the above figures are factual, then the following should be noted: 1. They underwent further trainings upon arrival before being licensed to practice in those countries! 2. They jettisoned the "know it all" mentality of the average Nigerian-trained physician and accepted to work as teammates with other healthcare professionals to serve the patients better. 3.What you have is the statistics for Nigerian trained physicians working abroad, you don't have the figures for other Nigerian healthcare professionals who also practice abroad, so it'll be wrong of you to claim that Nigerian medical doctors are the only ones working abroad. 4.Many Nigerian politicians and elites go abroad to get treated of common ailments because they are aware that lack of teamwork in Nigerian hospitals constitutes a big hindrance to proper healthcare delivery. It is not always about lack of facilities like you are quick to claim. 5 Likes 1 Share |
Re: How Many Johesu Members Apart From Nurses Are Needed In Europe by MrBigiman: 1:44pm On Jun 03, 2018 |
Jman06: The part way for Nigerian Doctors to work abroad is clear. Write their board exams and get certified. No extra training. The partway for other healthcare professionals is clumsy, except nurses. Pharmacist have to do a full 52weeks retraining even with the bogus PharmD. It's a big shame for our system. Lab Scientist have to relinquish their megalomanic title to become technicians in Australia and phlebotomist in US. It's a jungle out there man. MBBS trumps it all and all the time. |

Babybush: Cab driving would pay us more than we would earn while shuffling btw pp and residency back in 9ja. Also the whites are very generous and offer tips for getting to destinations faster. Don't also forget that the air is breathable and the life in general trumps whatever scam you are paid in Nigeria. So why not suffer a little for a higher life expectancy than to waste away with johesu increasing someone's bp unnecessarily back in 9ja |

MrBigiman:i have a personal person who's a med lab scientist at Australia. Most taken as technicians is due to the difficulty of the questions asked. And yet you've been acting like MLS is so simple and easy. I think it's better not to talk about what we don't know because you're obviously not in the field 1 Like |
