Fasawe admits funding PDP, receiving N700m from Obasanjo

ONE of the principal actors in the controversial Petroleum Technology Trust Fund (PTDF), Otunba Oyewole Fasawe, yesterday admitted funding the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from his private bank account since 1999.

He also claimed that his detention by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) was an act of victimisation because of his closeness to Vice President Atiku Abubakar who is estranged with President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Testifying before the Senate ad-hoc committee set up to review the report of the Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba committee that investigated the PTDF, Fasawe also admitted that when his account became overdrawn, President Obasanjo reimbursed him with N700 million through Hallmark Bank.

How are we sure Fashawe is saying the truth and why does it take such a long time for the so-called truth to be revealled?, They are all the same, feeding fat at the expence of Nigerians

Fasawe is not happy to discuss anything that has to do with banks and refer them to his bank but is so happy to discuss on the MOFAS account and how the President paid 700million into it. That sums up why he came to the Senate, for a singular purpose to smear OBJ.

I have said it before, all this crap allegations against OBJ can't stand in any law court. Those who go about telling us how OBJ bought 200million shares, Paid 700million Naira into Fasawe's account and how he bought a car for his girlfriend should do a more thorough job by telling us what Government funds OBJ has diverted to fund this expenditure, otherwise it amounts to nullity. Telling us what expenditures OBJ has made without telling us how that affects the country's treasury is merely feeling the air with intrigues aimed at putting Nigerians in a Island of despair that afterall there is no one to trust and thus no hope lets remain where we are.

If Atiku is sure of himself why did he try to stop Senate through a law court from indicting him seprately from that pronounced by the administrative panel of enquiry??

Time will tell where all this propaganda will lead to

Atiku is not accused of corruption because he bought Lexus or 607 for Fasawe
Atiku is not even being questioned how he is able to have investments in different sectors of the economy including Media, oil and gas, Telecomunication etc.

No one is asking those rhetorical questions even when it is obvious that his service in customs could not have brought him such wealth because there is no proof.

Atiku is being accused of diverting State Funds into Private intrests, clear case of corruption and abuse of office. That is the difference between Atiku and OBJ.

I am rather disappointed some how in the one sided approach by some of us

No one has ever said Atiku is not a thief nor has he ever diverted Nigerian funds into private pockets. How does a customs officer become a multi-millioneer, if not trrough corruption.

The thing with Obasanjo is his pontificating and pointing accusing fingers at others while he enriches himself, disobeying courts laws, tearing the country apart. People are more incensed with him because he has and had taken the people fpr granted for a long time, telling lies and dooing what he pleases and at the same time thinking we are too dumb to know any better.

Atiku should be impeached and imprisoned, so should Obasanjo and his merry band of rouges.

Don't just jump to conclusion please. Have you not heard OBJ saying that he never knew Fasawe? It's only God and the people involved in this case that know the truth. Anything we, the ordinary people say is just mere speculation and guess work arising from sentiment. Morality has grown wings and flown away from our country. A country where a high profile individual who told you yesterday that he would pay your school fees, only turn around today to say that he has never set his eyes on you, let alone promising you.

This is new, OBJ dening knowing Fashawe? Everyone in the country knows the truth on that. There is no way Obasanjo can deny knowing Fashawe when he had always been by his side. The man had a free pass to enter Aso Rock any time of the day. Obsanjo only fell out with Fashawe because he (Fashawe refused to betray Atiku as Obasanjo had done all his friends. Obasanjo is guilty as sin, and should go straight to jail.
Why is it that the Senate is putting off debate on the PTDT scandal till after the elections, if not to give Obasanjo a soft landing and maybe allow him to manipulate the elections to rig in his own people.
