Wike is not owing workers salary. If someone is out of work and hungry, it is a different case than someone that is working without being paid.
So your analogy doesn't apply in this situation.

Ekiti workers still prefer Fayose to Fayemi despite non payment of salary, they know where they stand with Fayose but with Fayemi their jobs are not secured..na person wey get job dey collect arrears nah...some will rather stay at home on the day of election than voting for Fayemi. If Fayose end up paying arrears before July election, Fayemi is so sure he will loose even in his family compound.
