Understanding the scriptures is not just reading it and thinking you're becoming an interpreter or teacher simply because you can read English. Wycliffe died a peaceful death, he was a Catholic priest in England, he died while celebrating mass, he was struck by stroke. he was also a heretic who believed that the King should be given power and authority over the entire Church as the Anglican today.

while he was alive, his doctrine was been condemned and was finally condemned after his death. he was not killed for translating the Bible, he died a natural death and he was later condemned for his heresy.
