Why Igbo Will Vote For APC In 2019 – Ex-reps Member, Oge-ali by 3Ebisco: 7:38am On Jun 16, 2018
The immediate past representative of Ohaukwu/ Ebonyi federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Chief Peter Oge-Ali, has said that the Igbos had fully embraced the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Oge-Ali told NAN on Friday that the region had realised that APC was the only realisable path to the country’s presidency in 2023.

“During the 2015 presidential elections, the APC received less than 200 votes in the South-East Zone but the people have presently seen the importance of linking to the centre.

“This can only be achieved by identifying and voting for the APC because it is difficult to get the nation’s presidency without negotiation.

“The Igbos will have the bargaining power for the 2023 presidency if they vote for APC in 2019 and this is the message we are preaching to the people,” he said.

Oge-Ali urged the Igbos not to vote for parties that assume regional dimensions because the possibility of getting the presidency in 2023 is real.

“They should massively vote for President Muhammdu Buhari for a second term in office because he is determined to correct the anomalies that have bedeviled the country.

“The president should be allowed to complete his eight years in office to adequately sanitise the country and set it on the path of greatness.

“Buhari’s works will not be appreciated presently but in the future with landmark achievements such as signing the Not-Too-Young to run law, financial autonomy to the legislative and judiciary, among others,” he said.

He urged the National Assembly to cooperate with the executive arm of government to ensure effective legislation and implementation of governmental policies and programmes.

“Both arms of government should cooperate instead of engaging in excessive squabbles but it should be understood that such situations are normal even in developed democratic settings.

“However, it shows that democracy is finding its roots in the country but the interest of the country should supersede other interests,” he said.

Igbos have always gotten in wrong in their political permutations and the current atmosphere presents itself like it normally does. In 2015 there were uncertainties about GEJ candidature yet they pitched their tent with him, now there are uncertainties about Buhari's candidature and they want to do same. Should Buhari lose the elections the same they hold now will behold them post 2019

Their vote didn't count in the last election I doubt if it will this upcoming election. They are not relevant in Nigeria political arena. They are not Nigerians anyway

It's good they are not Nigerians. Because the way Nigerians are regarded at oversea airports and subways like already-made scammers and terrorists, you'd do well to dissociate yourself from such failed people.

Igbo or any other region presidency is not the solution to the Nigerian political question otherwise the NE should have been paradise in a today's Nigeria. angry
What Nigeria needs now is overt restructuring, referendum or complete disintegration to its former regional structure.

Which anomalies? A vindictive anti-corruption fight A Buhari that skewed almost all the leadership heads in Nigeria filled all choic government establishments with his hausa-fulani kiths & kins?
Same man that refused to declear his killer brothers the confirmed terrorists that they're & send soldiers for IPOB but declear police action for their disturbances?
Can you employ the president as the manager of your company

Don't let anyone deceive you, Buhari can never loose in the North, SW is a fair game for him. Even if igbos don't vote for him in 2019 he will still win the presidency. The political wisdom here is that Buhari's victory in 2019 is the fastest route to 2023 igbo presidency. Do not allow them cajole us into claiming 12years of Northern rule thereby shifting the SE presidency project to 2027.

The best political approach now is to secure the SE regional interest in the ruling party and the mainstream of Nigerian politics. Championing a secessionist ideology and propagating hatred at the moment will surely lead to loss of lives, death of the Innocents among us and continued marginalization. Assume leadership and use same instrument to the good of your people. 2023 remains the best deal for the SE presidency through the Buhari 2019 presidential victory. They don't want him to spend 8years in power because they want to spend 12-years as a regional slot. They voted him and we must help them to complete his 8years without the option of his replacement with another stock of theirs.

When Chief Tony Anenih was asked on the political wisdom behind the Yardua/Jonathan ticket, he responded " Yardua/Jonathan presidential ticket is the fastest means to a South South presidency"
Most of us did not see it but that was exactly what played out. Buhari's 2019 victory/second term is the fastest route to a South East presidency!!!

It's the wisdom of turning an error or bad situation to your own advantage.

The north is very smart and serious when it comes to elections and voting. SE presidency in 2023 has been provisioned by fate and it should be taken. We shouldn't allow hatred and bigotry to ruin it. We must engage other regions to support the project and keep it in the front burner. Don't expect another fulani to replace Buhari and help you exterminate the herdmen or stop the killings. Fulanis don't kill fulanis. The federal security apparatus have been trained to respect and support the power at the centre including his kinsmen. No one can change this at the moment. SE be wise.

GEJ was not allowed to serve out 10years rule, they too should not be allowed to take 12years. They should serve out their 8years for the South East to take it's own slot in 2023. If this is missed, we should blame no one. Infact we should help them to ensure the 8years is completed.
