The South East Senate Caucus has expressed shock over reported cut in the 2018 budget allocation for the Enugu Airport Terminal. The Chairman of the caucus, Sen. Enyinnaya Abaribe, and lawmakers from the region said they learnt that an allocation of N2 billion sustained by the two aviation committees of the Senate and House of Representatives, were said to have been slashed to N500 million. He said that the caucus had summoned an emergency meeting of South East lawmakers to unravel when the cut was effected and by who. He added that “no right thinking Igbo man would support any cut on allocation for projects in the South East region.” Abaribe, who said that the budget documents were verifiable, noted that “we are committed and determined to find out who made the cut.” He said that the caucus actually lobbied for the Enugu Airport Terminal allocation to be increased to N3.5 billion until the Ministry of Aviation told members of the caucus that what they had was an envelope which could not be increased beyond the N2 billion allocation. Abaribe, who is also the Chairman, Senate Committee on Power, Steel Development and Metallurgy, noted that N30 billion was smuggled into the power budget without his committee’s knowledge. He said that the N30 billion was listed for expansion and re-enforcement of infrastructure in the distribution companies to reduce stranded firms. He added that “the amount never passed through the Senate Power committee. “Where did such huge sum of N30 billion come from. “Let the budget office and other relevant bodies conduct self examination. Such self examination will go a long way to clear gray areas.” He explained that “in the case of the Enugu Airport Terminal and the Second Niger Bridge, we want to find out at what point the cut was made.” http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/06/2018-budget-south-east-senators-shocked.html

Tell me how Abaribe and his co Rubber stamp senators from the south East will know that what is due to south East has been slashed and added to other region by other smart senators who pay attention to details. when "The only thing they count as achievement is abusing buhari. Buhari's minister, Sidika told the Enugu state governor that the sum of N1.7b had already been paid by the fg for the terminal out of the N2b required. And that the balance of N300m will be paid soon. This issue had better be addressed and very fast too. How can they be shocked? Did they not peruse final documents? Did they lose sight of their assignment and d nature of the hellhole they all love because of money? Is this the extent of backstabbing and sabotage we're now reduced to? They should start by meticulously going over their copy of the budget and compare same with what the president has signed. Elose11: That was 2017 budget implementation. 2billion was budgeted in 2017. The fact that 2billion was budgeted in 2017 does not mean the total cost to do the airport is 2 billion. The 2billion we are talking about now is 2018 budget. It is possible the government has 2 yeear or more years plan to complete it. So every year, they budget a specific amount they want to invest in it for that year. Even if the SE/Igbos hate Buhari (which isn't the case; you lot just can't stand criticisms...you beat a baby and get indignant when it starts to cry) they would be perfectly justified! When he tagged us '5%' that shouldn't get the same level of dividends from a federal gov't of Nigeria (not a Buhari gov't of Nigeria), what did you say? When he sent his fulani soldiers to come down to the SE and murder innocent protesters in cold blood, what did you say? When after the invasion of Mazi Kanus' home during the ill-advised python dance, both he and his parents went missing, what did you say? When he was making appointments into his gov't and for months nobody from the SE was considered good enough for a job, what did you say? When one of the first things he did after being sworn in to office was to suspend work on the 2nd niger bridge while work on the Kaduna-Abuja high-speed rail service continued apace, what did you say? South East senators and House of rep members are good at abusing and insulting Buhari because that is what an average IPOB wants to hear that Buhari is abused. Eyinnaya Abaribe and Ike Ekweremadu chief culprits even Abaribe said Buhari was incompetent now who is more incompetent. Mean while Northern senators are schooling Igbo senators on how legislation is being done not by ranting and abusing Buhari with hundred likes and shares on Nairaland.
