“Any moment from now, the concessionaire will take over the Onitsha port. “The work on Baro port has been on for more than three years now and when completed, it will create close to two million jobs. “The port is the anchor of North West, North Central transportation and the port is linked to railway where cargo can be moved. “Onitsha port will serve the South East Nigeria; in fact, Onitsha port will be the most viable port as over 60 per cent of cargo in Nigeria goes to Onitsha, so it is going to be a very busy port,” Ibrahim said. He, however, said that Onitsha port would be concession based on government policy, that the private sector should be the operator while government will provide the infrastructure. NAN reports that Baro Inland Water Port is located at Baro, Agaie Local Government, Niger State. Onitsha represents to the SE what Lagos and PH represents to the SW and SS respectively. Now you can argue with NIWA. LOL 29 Likes 1 Share

Nigeria must disintegrate. Say no to restructuring. Even if we restructure, it won't stop the hate we have for each other. Nigeria experienced ethnic tensions when we had regional government. If Awolowo, Azikwe, Ahmadu Bello were alive today, they won't advise us to restructure but split. Yorubas and Ashantis or Zulus don't fight like the way Yorubas and Igbos/Hausas do. This is because we don't share same country with them. When Yorubas, Igbos, and Hausas finally separate, we won't know we once shared same country. Everyone will mind their business. Why should I go through all the stress because I want restructuring when I can use it to split the country? Yorubas, Hausas, and Igbos don't need one another to survive. We can only trade with each other like Europeans and Asians do. #simplesense. Split Nigeria! 217 Likes 19 Shares |

The mod that banned me for speaking about terroristic bokohhari should know that you can't silent me. The thunder that will fire you is doing preesup. Mark my words. This news is not too encouraging. It is not good for the long term that Onitsha economy is too dependent on importation. 57 Likes 2 Shares |

If 60% of the importation goes to Onitsha alone, that means Onitsha generates 60% of Custom's import Revenues. When you factor in those heavy importers in Aba, and Igbo importers in Lagos, you can safely say Ndi Igbo contibutes over 80% of Custom's import revenues. When you exclude export tariffs, which is so minimal, it means Ndi Igbo are responsible for over 70% of Custom Revenue. Again, when you consider that the fact that Nigeria is an importing nation, you will see that Igbo runs this economy. Remove SE/SS Nigeria will collapse. (True Talk) 183 Likes 19 Shares |

OfficialAPCNig: For your mind. lol. Below is the list of major Nigerian imports and their worth -- before some people come and claim that their substandard imported merchandise constitute the bulk of the revenues generated via SW ports. The S.E doesn't even have the largest consumer markets with the biggest purchasing power in the country (that title goes to the SW, the SS, and the North). Clowns. Refined petroleum- 15% ($7.83-billion) Cars- 3.4% ($1.75-billion) Wheat - 2.8% ($1.46-billion) Packaged medicaments - 1.4% ($752-million) Rice - 1.4% ($706-million) Concentrated Milk - 1.3% ($679-million) Raw Sugar - 1.3% ($668-million) Malt extract- 0.84% ($441-million) Source: http://atlas.media.mit.edu/en/visualize/tree_map/hs92/import/nga/all/show/2014/ 25 Likes 7 Shares

OkutaNla: We are still saying the same thing. Everything you calculated just amounted to 34.6% of our total imports, what about the other 65.4%? Ndi Igbo controls those. Even at that, Ndi Igbo are still into heavy importation of those 34.6% you mentioned. Ndi Igbo are Nigeria's largest importer of Kerosene, Anambra is the largest importer of packaged medicaments. Ndi Igbo runs this economy (Kiss da Truth) 102 Likes 11 Shares |

OkutaNla:Do you even know what consumer market is? In case you don't know, it equates the size of your population. If the size of Town A's population is 200 and Town B's is 150, there consumer markets are 200 and 150 respectively. India have larger consumer market than US, yet US is still richer. 36 Likes 3 Shares |

OfficialAPCNig: No, boy. We are not saying the same thing. That man whose quote you are latching on was merely plessing una mumu button to deflect from the fact that Onitsha port has been abandoned. If the port was so viable, Igbos themselves, the rich ones amongst y'all, would not need the FG to get it working. They would pull resources and get it done. I repeat, the largest consumer markets in Nigeria are in the SW, North, and SS (in that order). Those are where the BULK of Nigerian consumers are, not Onitsha. Name the commodity, be it kerosene, packaged condiments or whatever, the REAL/LARGEST consumers are closer to the larger markets, which aren't in the SE. You are not making sense at all dude. 23 Likes 2 Shares |

OkutaNla: So, Mr. Smart, where is your data for the remaining 72.56% of Nigeria's total import? And, remember, it seems that Nigeria's total import for 2014 was close to $50 billion. See here: https://wits.worldbank.org/CountryProfile/en/Country/NGA/Year/2014/Summarytext Oh, by the way, your source did not seem to validate what you wrote up there. Here's an excerpt from what your source said: Nigeria imports mainly: industrial supplies (27% of total in 2014), capital goods (23%), food and beverage (17%), fuel and lubricants (14%), transport equipment and parts (12%) and consumer goods (7%). 43% of total imports come from Asia; 34% from Europe; 15% from America and 7% from Africa 32 Likes 1 Share |

OfficialAPCNig: Guy, you are the drop out here. I have showed you evidence that rubbishes your argument that '60%' of imported good end up in Onitsha. That is not possible coz the largest consumer markets for those goods are closer to Lagos than Onitsha. #Fact. Igbos are not the only importers in Nigeria. #Another Fact. Nigeria imports more than Okrika and spare parts which you folks are known for. E.g, no be only una dey import cars, refined petrol, e.t.c, you name it. #FAct. Go to bed coz your arguments holds no water. 19 Likes 2 Shares |
