President Muhammadu Buhari was the only President invited by the International Criminal Court(ICC) 20th anniversary celebration of the court. This gesture by the court has been described by the presidency as a product of international respect for President Buhari.

However, the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has told the president to report himself to the court for his alleged corruption and disregard for court directives.
