PDP, Atiku Condemn “impeachment Notice” On Gov. Ortom by Omeh22: 7:45pm On Jul 30, 2018
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has deplored the purported service of impeachment notice on Benue Governor, Dr. Samuel Ortom, by eight members of the House of Assembly. Ortom The party made this known in a communique issued after the end of an emergency meeting of its National Working Committee on Monday in Abuja and described the development as illegal.

National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr. Kola Ologbondiyan, who read communique, said “The NWC condemns in its entirety the purported sitting of eight APC members, including the impeached and suspended Speaker. “This purported happened in a 30-member House, wherein they illegally claimed to have served an impeachment notice on the Governor of Benue, Dr. Samuel Ortom.”

The PDP, according to Ologbondiyan, also condemned the use of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and Department of State Security (DSS) to harass and intimidate officials of Benue Government. He added that the PDP noted the roles played by APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, the Federal Government and Sen. George Akume in encouraging the action he described as “lawless and anarchy in the state’’.

He said that Oshiomhole’s actions and opinions over Ortom defection to PDP and the deployment of policemen to force the purported issuance of illegal impeachment notice were intended to precipitate the crisis in the state. Ologbondiyan said that the plan was for there to be a crisis in the state and warrant the declaration of state-of-emergency.

“It is on record that the erstwhile speaker had been impeached, suspended and restrained by a court of competent jurisdiction from parading himself as speaker. “In spite of this, it is shocking that no fewer than 300 policemen were alleged to have escorted the impeached speaker to the House of Assembly to initiate a disgraceful and manifestly illegal process.

“Our party warns against deliberate acts which were maliciously designed to truncate democracy by employing underhand tactics to achieve what is inconceivable in a democracy. “The party calls on Nigerians, civil society organizations, and International Community to note series of plots and deliberate attempts by the Federal Government to cause mayhem in a state struggling to recover from killings and bloodletting. “We are aware that these plots were designed to scare away Nigerians, including state governors and legislators, who are desirous of rallying with the PDP to rescue our nation from ill-governance.

“However, party urges members to remain steadfast as no amount of intimidation, harassment and assault on processes would suppress the freedom of choice eminently guaranteed by the 1999 Constitution (as amended).’’ Ologbondiyan urged PDP members, particularly those in Benue, to rise in defense of their rights and the country’s hard-earned democracy.

In the same manner, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar also described the situation in Benue as “awkward political development’’. Abubakar said that any attempt to disregard the rule of law and the Constitution in the impeachment of a governor was a recipe for anarchy and officially-sanctioned lawlessness.

He said that for a state facing security challenges like Benue, the introduction of lawlessness in the impeachment process could only complicate an already bad situation. He urged the police to remain politically neutral and avoid aiding lawlessness, adding that partisanship could professionally destroy their image. Abubakar stressed that the loyalty of the police should be to the Constitution and the rule of law.

“Whatever might be the short-term political benefits of lawlessness, the long-term dangers are by far greater than those perceived benefits. “If unchecked, the political situation in Benue could lead to a domino effect across the country, thereby jeopardizing democracy and endangering innocent lives and property of lawful citizens.”

COPYING DOES NOT ALWAYS PAY

To solve the problem of giraffing, collaboration and especially copying of other students in exams during my university days in OAU, a professor, Fabayo (fondly called FABRO), came up with an innovative method of mixing students of different faculties and levels together in an exams hall!

The effect is such that 400 Level Engineering student would sit next to 200 Level Social Science, 300 Level Science sat next to 100 Level Arts etc. With that, invigilators had nothing to worry about and the students knew that there was no point copying the scripts of each other, for such will be exercise in futility.

Such is the political situation in Nigeria presently involving APC, PDP and 2018 defections from APC to PDP, where the latter has simply girrafed, copied and pasted APC's 2014 script without realizing that they are from different faculties and levels!

Owing to mental laziness and absence of superior strategist in their fold, they truly didn't do any SWOT (Strength/Weakness/Opportunities/Threats) analysis at all. They just copied and pasted what APC did in 2014, thinking it will work.

They mistook APC for PDP, forgot that PMB is not GEJ, that their support bases, loyalty and what need to do to get votes of their supporters are not similar.

They also misread the mood and situation of the nation.

In the case of GEJ, he met a bad situation and made it worse with corruption, ineptitude, lack of will to act right - which earned him the name; Mr. Clueless. He never stood with the masses and was solely responsible for the deterioration he brought upon tbe country. And for these, majority of the people were disappointed and angry with him. And they wanted him out.

But in PMB's case, he met the worst situation, repairs and makes it better. He fights corruption and builds integrity into the system. He has the ideas and will to act right, stands with the masses at all times. Builds decayed infrastructures PDP abandoned, and is not responsible for the problems the country faces in any way or form. And for these majority of the people are not angry with him, but want him to continue. Only a minority who are corruptionists, whose wings have been clipped and their conduit drain pipes on the national treasury blocked, are mad at him.

Another big difference: APC during 2014 defection was like an empty brand new house, such that those coming had the luxury of taking up unoccupied rooms, which they moved into with their furniture (party structures) and did the interior decor to their tastes. And so, every defection was entirely value adding.

But defecting now from APC to PDP is entirely opposite! PDP is like an old rickety family house where each parents and their children are already unhappy, living uncomfortably in a room per family, and now upon that, defectors want to come in as new occupants of the same rooms, which means that they either will eject the present occupiers, or join in further crowding the already overcrowded and inconvenient rooms. Either way, they will meet stiff resistance, and create crisis within the party, which did not happen to APC in 2014.

So, when l see PDP say the present defections from APC to PDP in 2018 is same as PDP to APC in 2014, l immediately know that they have missed the way by 100 miles!

It reminds me that using giraffe method to copy and paste from the next student to you in an exam does not work all the time, as proven by Professor Fabro in OAU, Ile-Ife.

It a shame that with all the good analysis you started in the beginning many thought you were not one of those zombies that sold their brain to buhari even when his body odour or incompetence have led to deaths of many innocent children and adults in the name of cow or jihad. After reading the creation of your own present Nigeria situation I really felt more sorry to people of you own calibre and understand the flight of the almijiris that was programmed not to use the senses to stand on the truth .If someone of your calibre could write sure a lies just to be paid 30000 naira , I hope you are not among the you that support not to young to rule campaign.
Sorry for been to raw with you in case no little brain was left for you to use by the odour of APC .
Need you to answer this simple questions ;
are Nigerians better off now than during PDP regime?
What can justify the killing of innocent children in buhari regime in the name of cow?
If the same things or even worst are happening now than during PDP where is the CHANGE buhari promise gullibles like you?
If you don't sincerely answer those questions base on actual facts the wraths and cries of innocent children murder in cold blood will visit you and your kind .
