Ondo: Mimiko moves to create 100,000 jobs By Etokhana Eleanor, 06.21.2010 Monday, June 21, 2010 Ondo state government has concluded plans to create about 100,000 jobs for the people of the state.Special Adviser to Governor Segun Mimiko of Ondo state on Small and Medium Scale Enterprises, Mr. Francis Sheen, who disclosed this in a chat with THISDAY, said the Mimiko Administration is set to do this before the end of its four-year tenure to support existing business and establish new ones by developing community based programme. http://odili.net/news/source/2010/jun/21/213.html The programme, according to Sheen, is called the “3I programme” and is been organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Co-operative Development to generate employment and meet the needs of citizen of the state in every local government. He disclosed that at present 250 communities have been identified as beneficiaries for this program. He said the governor has released the sum of N1 billion, while the Bank of Industry (BoI) is also investing the sum of N1billion to be able to extend small business to a medium enterprise. "But the aim of His Excellency is to grow existing small and medium businesses and start up new ones,” he stressed. Affirming that “the “3 I programme” will be broken down into two categories," he said the first category will be the co-operative. According to him, "the co-operatives in the 250 communities will be broken down into a smaller unit making up 10 people per co-operative and these people will be given N1 million per group. The purpose is to make the citizens accountable to each other since we are not asking for collateral.” |

It seems that Mr Mimiko wants to beat Ohakim to it, in creating fantasy fanthom jobs. Ohakim came up with his 419 fantasy 10,000 jobs and now Mimiko has up it with an extra 90,000. But in the reality, that must be more than all available jobs in the whole of Nigeria wonderland. |
