Ghana’s President Nana Akufo-Addo has said that churches that specialise in prosperity preaching through which they acquire stupendous wealth may be slammed with tax.

Akufo-Addo made the declaration as he delivered stinging criticisms about some churches which he accused of being everything but what a church should be.

The Ghanaian president, speaking at a synod of the Global Evangelical Church at the University of Ghana, remarked that the church is becoming “a pale shadow of what it used to be generations ago.”

I wonder why Dangote who pays thousands of enployees through his sweat will pay billions of tax and a man of God who own thousands of churches, schools and other business built with populace money with few staff will not pay tax but rake in billions monthly.

Churches now are business premises so I support the idea of them paying taxes...

Way to go but in Nigeria it will be difficult because of many factors both internally and externally because everything in this country that involves the elites, people like fkk will turn it to another thing online.

While churches in Nigeria think Islamization is a threat, they fail to realize that their fraudulent pastors are the bigger threat.

People have continued to see the light, and churches are continuously growing smaller.

Keep defending your fake pastors.

It is a senseless move and it would not work out. This is a malicious policy been introduced because one president thinks some churches aren't aligning to his own definition of what churches should be. Members are already taxed of thrir earnings hence should not be subject to double taxation whether prosperity preaching or not.

The USA has prosperity preaching ministeries and does not subject them to taxation. But it's African nations who can't account for what they have that want to demand accountability from the church. How laughable...

In preparation for this all pentecostal churches should open off shore account in Cayman Island, USA and Switzerland and encourage their members to route payments directly there.
