It didn't. How else could you play Spain/Barcelona? Remember Switzerland? You could feel Bad for Portugal. But the attack-kiiling quality was just lacking. Apart from Ronaldo who had too much a BURDEN to carry, other strikers (Almeida, Simao) are just average, decent players. Portugal FAILED to SCORE against quality Teams (Ivory Coast, Brazil).
