If you don’t have electricity, it is not the Federal Government’s problem, the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, stated.
Fashola, who disclosed this while speaking at the Nextier Power Dialogue on Wednesday night in Abuja, told his listeners that there were problems in the power sector, but reminded them that it was not the Federal Government’s problem if citizens in the country do not have electricity, especially since the sector was privatised.

This is a fact most Nigerians don't understand.
The position of Ministry of power is regulatory, oversight and policy direction.
Do you blame NCC or Ministry of Communication when your phone can't receive calls or you are unable to use your data.
Blame the government who sold the power sector to individuals who are unable to run it.
They are running the power sector the same way they ran NITEL aground.

When he was running his mouth as a governor, didn't he know this?
A serious government should be able to provide 24hrs power supply within 6months.
Can you see how deceptive and wicked these APC people can be? To get steady power supply is not a rocket science.

Now it is more than molecular biological science to these set of pretenders that have nothing to offer except lip service.

Oh yes, it is the citizens' fault who voted them in and are still planning to repeat same.

When you pick up your gadget to type reasonable comment only for you as a BMC member to see your monthly N30k, your comments will immediately change to this.
The N30k will shut you out from reality. At the point anything goes to allow the money to keep coming.

I assume you are a typical Nigerian youth, with no idea of how things works in real world.
NEPA was fully owned by the Federal Government.
PHCN was partially owned by the Federal government.
The previous government unbundled the power sector and sold it to the likes of Abdulsalam Abubakir.
We now have Gencos and Discos etc.
Wait till Atiku sells the NNPC before you understand what free Market really means with how you buy fuel.
You can blame the politicians but do so sensibly.

sapoyoro:

odee,zombie, another lost youth..
always accepting excuses from these political charlatans.
if we keep accepting dem excuse, then when exactly is Nigeria gonna be fixed.
its because of oponu citizens like you who will never let them take responsibilities.
if only the way you care about is the same way they care about you.

This is not to support BRF.
It was Jonathan government who unbundled the power sector. We no longer have NEPA or PHCN in which the FG owns large share.
We have gencos and Discos now.
Please don't be lazy. Spend time researching Nigeria problems to be able to discus intelligently.
Even if the government builds power plants today to increase capacity, they do not own the distribution companies.
Wait till Atiku sells the NNPC.

are you talking from your anuus........ Please the discos aren't the problem ... the problem with Nigeria's power sector is..... generation and more of TRANSMISSION.... the discos are willing to produce their power and distribute and do you know how much the federal govt owes the discos? Which was part of the agreement before they purchased the discos. The federal govt is still fully in control of the national grid. Stop trying to mislead nigerians. The discos only distribute and can't distribute what they don't have.

What an arrogant display of ignorance. Naija govt still owns and operates generating stations/power lines

My people, the blame game will always continue but the fact remains.
The faulty structure of the Nigerian system takes the blame.
Until we remove power from the Exclusive list, we will keep rigmaroling.
How do you justify for instance, Zamfara state produce 1,000 Megawatt of power/electricity
Instead of using it for the benefit of Zamfarans, you send it to the National grid for equitable distribution then, Gboza!
The problem of blame game starts between Gencos, Discos, TCN and FG.
