They just collect exhorbitant gate fees no form of safety whatsoever and the volume of alcohol and hard drugs sold on our beaches is something the lagos state government should look into ,drinking and swimming is not advisable some measure should be taken or the fun seekers should be restricted to some parts of the beach, you cant down a full bottle of ciroc and the next thing in your mind is to go swim na go be that ooo |

If you have been to Oniru beach you will know it’s hard to drown there because there is little or no waves to deal with. 1 Like

Most Nigerians don't know how to swim but you will hear them shouting I can swim. When you ask them who taught them how to swim or where they learnt how to swim or the basic safety steps when swimming story go change. Out here right from primary school all kids are taught how to swim which is part of school curriculum no one is exempted unless you have medical conditions. But in our case after playing in a puddle of water after rain we start claiming I can swim. 1 Like |

Condolences to the boy's family. Lack of information is what causes these beach deaths and I wish we can all preach this message. Rip curls are responsible for the "beach carrying" people away and not any village woman, diabolic force or these myths. Rip curls can also take very experienced strong swimmers away from shore, not to talk of inexperience swimmers. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rip_current 1 Like
