For those crying up and down, this is for you without the state house of assembly. As a matter of fact, OBJ dissolved the state house of assembly and set up an interim state administrator, now PDP non go let us hear word as if Onoghen is/was a card carry member of PDP.

I wonder if PMB had done this to gov Otom, what we would been hearing. PMB has been too soft joo.

President Olusegun Obasanjo declared a state of emergency in Plateau State in central Nigeria on Tuesday, following a Christian massacre of Muslims there earlier this month. That in turn led to reprisal killings of Christians in the northern city of Kano.

Obasanjo sacked governor Joshua Dariye, accusing him of failing to act to end a cycle of violence between the Plateau State's Muslim and Christian communities. The bloodletting has claimed more than 2,000 lives since September 2001.

The president also disolved the Plateau State legislature and appointed a retired army general, Chris Ali, as interim administrator for the next six months. Ali is a native of Plateau State.

SECTION 305 of the 1999 Constitution:
provides for the imposition of a state of emergency in the country or any part of it. The section empowers the president to issue the declaration by way of official gazette.
It added, however, that a two-thirds majority of the National Assembly must ratify the executive proclamation within two days, if the legislators are in session, or 10 days, if they are not.

It states: 305(1)
Subject to the provisions of this Constitution, the President may by instrument published in the Official Gazette of the Government of the Federation issue a Proclamation of a state of emergency in the Federation or any part thereof.

(2) The President shall immediately after the publication, transmit copies of the Official Gazette of the Government of the Federation containing the proclamation including the details of the emergency to the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, each of whom shall forthwith convene or arrange for a meeting of the House of which he is President or Speaker, as the case may be, to consider the situation and decide whether or not to pass a resolution approving the Proclamation.

(3) The President shall have power to issue a Proclamation of a state of emergency only when:
(a) the Federation is at war;
(b) the Federation is in imminent danger of invasion or involvement in a state of war;
(c) there is actual breakdown of public order and public safety in the Federation or any part thereof to such extent as to require extraordinary measures to restore peace and security;
(d) there is a clear and present danger of an actual breakdown of public order and public safety in the Federation or any part thereof requiring extraordinary measures to avert such danger;
(e) there is an occurrence or imminent danger, or the occurrence of any disaster or natural calamity, affecting the community or a section of the community in the Federation;
(f) there is any other public danger which clearly constitutes a threat to the existence of the Federation; or
(g) the President receives a request to do so in accordance with the provisions of subsection (4) of this section.

Comparing Buhari with Obasanjo is stupidity of the highest order. Obasanjo does not support tribalism Buhari does.
Any person who thinks Buhari will get away with this, is in for a long thing and deceiving itself

Is this 2004? I thought many Nigerians have since educated themselves and grown above shallow arguments.

Why did we ask for change?
