House Of Representatives Approves N30,000 As National Minimum Wage by Priscy01(f): 3:36pm On Jan 29, 2019
Reports reaching Igbere Tv says, the House of Representative has approved N30,000 as the new minimum wage for workers in the country.

The lawmakers passed the bill during Tuesday’s (today) plenary presided over by Yakubu Dogara, the Speaker of the House. They approved the figure after the bill was read and passed for the third time on the floor of the lower chamber of the National Assembly in Abuja.

Prior to the passage of the bill, the House adopted the report of the ad-hoc committee set up to look into the bill presented to the National Assembly by President Buhari. It said it decided to adopt the report of the tripartite committee because of the obvious difficult living conditions in the country.

The lawmakers inserted a clause in the bill which makes it effective from the date it is asserted to by the President. They, however, retained the original clause in the bill which excluded employers of less than 25 people from paying the new minimum wage.

In the face of the recent development, the bill would be sent to the Senate for concurrence. Earlier, the lawmakers concluded debate on the 2019 Appropriation Bill, as well as read and passed it through the second reading.

They consequently referred the bill to the House Appropriations Committee and other related sub-committees for further actions. The House then adjourned plenary till February 19, after the Presidential and National Assembly elections.

The dullard will not sign the bill. He sent the bill just to make gullible nigerians think he understands their plight.

This very impressive!

The Nigerian workers deserves this.

Now the Governors should redo their budgets and properly channel their allocation to meeting this demand.

Bayelsa with 2 million people, and with one of the largest monthly allocation from the FG, including IGR and 13% derivation, will not be able to pay that salary. They will soon come here and blame Buhari. Awon were!

I will applaud the lawmakers until the payment of 30k is being reflected both the public and private sectors.

Let it on the govt jobs alone, private sectors have a huge numbers of employees on their payslip.

Divide 30k into one month with a family of just three people and know that this rubbish FG are fanning themselves does not worth celebrating.
These workers are they real people patronising " made in Nigeria products" because they don't make their shopping in Dubai, paris, london, etc but the irony of it is that, our politicians are the ones helping
in boosting other nations economy.

Don't tell me they try oh! Because if a president can budget 10millions a month for feeding alone in his family and Governors 5millions likewise, and if we don't see truth in this, then our consciences are qualify to be deposited in a mortuary.

Offcourse they'll sign it as far as it doesn't significantly affect their own pay.
Over to the criminal governors now. Will they agree? Because that's where the criminal governors loot.
