Just read this on BBC news. Apparently INEC have stated that the ballot papers for tomorrow's election are still in South Africa where they are being printed, hence voting will start at a later time ,

Tomorrow’s presidential elections may not hold after all judging by preparation by the electoral body, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Less than 24 hours to election, ballot papers are yet to arrive the country from South Africa where they are being printed.

Maurice Iwu, chairman of INEC announced that voting has been pushed back to 10 am instead of the initial start date of 8 am.

lets wait and see what happens

1) This probably happened due to the last minute decision by the Supreme Court to allow Atiku to contest.
2) This will make rigging very difficult. All the previously stolen ballot papers will now be useless. Yay!

Why should ballot papers be imported from south africa, does it mean we don't have printers in nigeria?election is every thing a country stands for, independence ,that includes social, economic and political.Where are all our graduates and experts?even the street mechanics people take for granted are the most skillful and productive people in that country, all they need are guidelines and extensive research to put them into maximum use, they can make cars if they have all the components together. This is why people should vote for Utomi, because he is the only one that have an idea of how a country should be managed,he is an economist and at the time an activist,i do watch his programme here,PATITOS GANG.This is a chance for the people to revolt mentally and peacefully by voting the right person not for instant gain but for generations to come, give a man a fish today,he will go hungry tomorrow, but teach him to catch a fish,he will be welloff for eternity.

Re: Ballot Papers Are Not Yet In Nigeria! by debosky(m): 9:29pm On Apr 20, 2007
@ jama, the truth is that PDP is trying and will still try to rig, the fact that they might have been hamstrung by INEC doesn't prove their innocence, besides, are you going to be in the collation centers to see which ballots are being counted?

all this SA story is a smoke screen, by 2moro you'll hear that they cdnt arrive on time, so they decided to use some of the old ballots as well

If the ballots do come from SA, then I'm 100% sure that there will be no elections in Rivers again, as well as extreme North East too.

It has to be postponed since the ballot papers are not yet in the country, how will they manage to get them to the villages and remote cities assuming it even arrives Lagos and ABJ tomorrow.

@debosky,

Please give me any assurance you have the AC, the ANPP or any other party for that matter
do not plan to rig tomorrows election? I am so sick and tired of everybody complaining about
PDP rigging the elections when in fact we know that all the other parties will do the same thing
for the most part. The difference is that PDP is better positioned and has far more resources at
their disposal to over-rig anybody. Not until we get a "serious" opposition party, these former
PDPers running around as opposition and pretending as if they know nothing about rigging do
nod buy my sympathies - and they deserve what they have coming to them!

The senate president was on the mark when he said all we need in Nigeria was mainly 2 or 3
political parties, not what you have today when a party is created on the fly to suite the whims
of an individual because he is old party does not want him any more. Election rigging at least in
Nigeria will be around for a long time to come, but having parties of almost equal strength can
go a long way in checking or mitigating this trend.

Without waiting for the tomorrow results, this is how the script is most likely to play out. Musa Yar
Adua will emerge winner with a little help from the PDP master riggers. Atiku and Buhari despite
their attempts to rig what ever little they can, will not get enough votes to come anywhere close
to Yar Adua. On Monday morning, Atiku will be the first to hit the courts and hopefully with a little
help from his "friends" at the courts, Nigeria's political transition will be uncertain for the next few
weeks to come. But make no mistakes about it, PDP and OBJ will not back down and I wouldn't
want them to. Atiku will then soon begin to really realize how much the Nigerian people like him
if he is the one giving Obasanjo any reason to extend his hold on power. Sit tight and buckle up!

Finally, shouldn't we give INEC credit for something? If they print the ballot papers in Nigeria, you
are about to find the opposition make the linkage between the owners of the company and OBJ or
PDP. Now, our democracy is about to be given a healthy dosage of what it takes to traverse the
country. We are just what we are - how do we expect our elections to escape the bad roads or no
roads, fuel scarcity, chronic lateness, etc.? I throway salute!

This is a dummy they are trying to sell to Nigerians and the international communities to cover their tracks. Is it a coincidence that the news of the ballot papers still being in South Africa broke only after it became known that a truck load of already thumb-printed ballot papers in favor of the PDP was intercepted by security agencies?

They are trying to pull wool over our eyes. The election is already rigged and the 2 hours delay is just to make up for the lost time needed to thumb print another truck load of ballot papers before the actual sham starts they call election.

@chidexy,

Is there anything that INEC does that is not suspect?

Well then, let them proceed like they are since no one
will think positive of them anyway.

You do, people complain. You don't, people complain.
What do you do then? Do as you wish.
Re: Ballot Papers Are Not Yet In Nigeria! by Christino(m): 11:45pm On Apr 20, 2007
The international communities already know we are apes, they tune in to naija news when their comedy programmes are done so they can see more.

Organization and planning zero, execution 100, how come, i no know. Na embezzlement and rigging skills we get. Any other, na counterfeit.
