After all the brouhaha, now that the dust has settled; it is no longer about a dictatorial executive and the assault on our democracy but an admittance of guilt and how to save the rotten image of the judiciary - if Buhari hadn't rattled their cage they wouldn't have come to their senses.

Thank you PMB - may Allah grant you victory this coming election to continue fighting and winning more battles on our behalf. Ameen.

This is how the Nigerian Government is supposed to work: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t-TVDOOF51g4

And when you think about it, it's the same reason it struggles. To many people are involved.

Honestly I don't care about the 'timing' everyone is hung up on. Onnoghen has a very questionable character he will sell is conscience for the right price. We shouldn't have such person being the Chief Judge of Nigeria. The fear of everyone is that PMB replaced the embattled CJ with someone loyal to him so he can be used to win the next election. But quite frankly, the winner of the forthcoming Presidential election would not be determined by the court it will be determined by the people's voice, the people's vote. So go vote for your preferred choice and defend your vote this revolution would definitely be televised.

Twenty Senior Advocates of Nigeria, under the aegis of The Justice Reform Project, have described the corruption allegations against the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen, as “a manifestation of deeper malaise” in the nation’s judiciary.

The SANs, who said they were deeply embarrassed by the Onnoghen saga, said it pointed to the need for urgent reforms in the judiciary.

They admitted that there were cases of litigants and lawyers procuring court judgements and orders, saying the spate of conflicting judgements being churned by judges is one proof of the corruption and incompetence in the system.

As a result of the rot, the SANs noted with regret, that unlike in the past, judgements from Nigerian courts were no longer being cited with approval in foreign courts.

From the composition of the National Judicial Council, to the process of appointing judges, to the criteria for the award of the SAN rank and others, the SANs said the system needed to be reformed.

democracy is intact when legislative and executive arms are corrupt...but democracy dies when judiciary is totally corrupt

This your logic is funny, how do you have two arms corrupt and the remaining one is intact? Isn't it evident to you people that judiciary is a part of the whole? Whatever you find happening in judiciary is symptomatic of the sickness in the entire Nigeria system. The corruption that allows president ascended powerr without presenting basic certificate, the corruption that makes the president thinks he can turn himself into law because of his phantom integrity. Where is corruption evident more than in ruling party where party aspirants work against the interest of the party and can't be disciplined. A party fractured within, yet still thinks they can keep the country unified. You can't give what you don't have.

There is a rot in the judiciary; we know that. But the stinking rot in the executive arm spearheaded by a self acclaimed Mr integrity is totally unacceptable.

To see a change, it's up to the legislature to enact laws that would plug loopholes in all three arms.

I dare say the Rot in the executive is worse.

Yes I agree with you but you know too well as I do that those behind the buhari agenda would rather this country be destroy than let what you are suggesting happen,if you look at this onnoghen issue critically you would realized it's premeditated, from the onset buhari never wanted the man,now no one has come out to say the man embezzled so so money or so so person paid him illegal money for this or that, it's just that how can have this much.is it possible for someone of onnoghen to have that much or more, yes it is,let the man defend himself, this idea of coarsing the man to resign which is not a legal provision is only meant to validate the agenda of buhari,if I were in onnoghen's shoes I will never resign except if I'm not sure of my facts, like I said before investing money to earn profits is not same as establishing n running a business let onnoghen fight this case,if he resigns today forever he will be refers to as one of the corrupt persons 'saint' buhari dealt with.look at the case of buratai who was army director of procurement for years but buhari/Apc will tell the world that all other generals were corrupt except buratai, perhaps a law should be made that only buhari should decide who is corrupt or clean in the country.

Thank God. We have started the process of rebirth for the judiciary. Yet, some politicised the Onnonghen disgrace.
