Today I gave a press statement on the forthcoming 2019 General Elections which will begin this Saturday, 16 February 2019. The statement is a follow up to the just concluded meeting of Armed Forces of Nigeria and security and intelligence agencies./1

I stated amongst other things that, in line with our various constitutional responsibilities the all the security agencies have been reviewing our strategies to ensure adequate security and protection for all Nigerians and foreigners before, during and after the elections. /2

We have also harmonized our strategies through several engagements between the heads of the various security agencies. Furthermore, we have been told by the President, Commander-in-Chief in very clear terms that he is committed to ensuring free, fair and credible elections. /3

I wish to say that the Armed Forces as well as other security and intelligence agencies are also committed to a violence free elections and that all Nigerians eligible to vote are able to perform their civic responsibilities without fear of molestation by any person or group./4

We are not unaware of plans to illegally use uniforms of military/paramilitary agencies to impersonate security and law enforcement agencies; illegally posses and use firearms to intimidate and harass members of the public; and engage in acts likely to breach security./5

Let me warn that the Armed Forces of Nigeria and other security agencies will not tolerate any act that is likely to cause security breaches before, during and after the elections. We will deal decisively with these acts irrespective of those involved. /6

Members of the public are hereby advised to disregard calls in some parts of the country to boycott the elections. The stay-at-home leaflets being circulated and similar online messages are the handiworks of mischief makers who are bent on sabotaging the process. Ignore them./7

It is important to reiterate that law enforcement agencies will remain apolitical. Code of Conduct for the Armed Forces of Nigeria for the 2019 General Elections have been issued to the Services and security personnel that will be deployed for election security duties./8

All other personnel not deployed for election security duties have been directed to steer clear of the election venues except to exercise their rights to vote for candidates of their choice. / 9

I would also like to appeal to all Nigerians to adhere strictly to restrictions on movement during the period of the elections as violators, no matter how highly placed, will be arrested and detained by the appropriate law enforcement agents. /10

Restrictions on movement do not however apply to personnel on elections security duties, local and international observers/monitors and emergency as well as security services personnel on authorized duties. /11

Finally, I wish to assure all peace loving members of the public of the preparedness of the Armed Forces of Nigeria and all security agencies to support a peaceful 2019 General Elections and to encourage all to go about their legitimate activities without fear of intimidation./12

I also want to encourage us to promptly report all suspicious activities to law enforcement agencies. The general public should rest assured that the security agencies are prepared to support the Nigeria Police for the safe conduct of the elections. Thank you and God bless./13

As part of efforts to provide adequate supervisory role in the election, the IGP has deployed members of the Force Mgt Team (DIGs) to all the geopolitical zones in the country and they are already on ground to ensure no stone is left unturned as regard ensuring a secured space

We call on all Nigerians to support us & we implore politicians to play the game by the rules. Let's work together to ensure the will of the people prevail in this election as the Force is committed to ensuring a safe, secured, conducive environment for a credible election

All hands are on deck, we are not working in isolation, we are working in conjunction with other security and safety agencies to converge our strength and other comparative advantages, we have our logistics set, we are ready to provide the required security for the election

There will be customized & tailored-to-suit security arrangement for the General Election in each State of the Federation based on the Security Threat Assessment already carried out in all the States & FCT. We are aware of the security challenges in some places & very much ready

#IGPAdamu ORDERS RESTRICTION OF VEHICULAR MOVEMENT ON ELECTION DAY-U​rges Citizens to be Law Abiding, to go out and Exercise their Franchise

As part of efforts in furtherance of the overall interest of public order, public wellbeing and safety and national security as it relates to the general elections billed to take place on Saturday,

February 16th, 2019, the Inspector General of Police, Ag. IGP M.A Adamu, NPM, mni has ordered the restriction of vehicular movement from 6am – 6pm on Saturday, 16th February, 2019.

The IGP notes that the restriction will assist the security agencies in effectively policing the electoral process, thereby preventing hoodlums and criminally-minded elements from hijacking and disrupting the electoral process

He urges the citizens to troupe out en-masse on the day of the election to exercise their franchise without any fear or apprehension as the Police & other security agencies have already put in place adequate security measures to ensure a safe, secure & conducive

environment for a peaceful and credible election. While regretting the inconveniences the restriction will cause the citizens, the IGP however warns that the Force will deal decisively with any individual(s) or group(s) that will want to test our common will

in our resolve to ensure a peaceful election. He therefore enjoins the citizens to steer-clear of vote buying, vote selling, hate speeches, circulating fake news, snatching of ballot boxes and other act(s) capable of truncating the people’s will noting that .

the Force will not hesitate to bring to bear the full weight of the law on anyone who engages in any crime during this period.

What makes Election Day any different?

Please my people it is the last days for APC and just like the devil they will kick they will bite they will manufacture documents, doctor tapes ,videos and so on just to get our sympathy, but do not be dismayed, the killings in Benue will and must cease after February 16, we shall remove the same man who his own wife told us is no longer in charge of his Government, a man who's wife revealed to us that only two men hijacked his Government, and urged the youths to rise up in a revolution, that man is who we are sending back to Daura to rest in peace.

A vote for Atiku is a show of strength in our power to defeat evil, to kick out incompetence anytime we want, and to prove to them that the actual power belongs to us.
