Spare the man. Maybe he attended an event and was only performing a ceremonial role just like a politician/celebrity kicking the ball placed at the centre circle before the actual kick off and start of the game.

Show some love and respect to the man.
Respect to the one that brought religious and tribalism to the government of Nigeria?

My eloquent and majestic elder, Sir Alhaji Ahmadu Bello. Will never forget the cry of Isaac Adaka Boro when sardauna and Pm Balewa were killed. The major memorialized them as the only 'Protectors'of the Delta minorities.

Happy to say that he was a Nigerian. True father to all. Except those who tried to out maneuvre toward deceitful ends. Long live Sardauna

Bello was the protector of the Niger delta? WTH are you saying?

Ahmadu Bello sent the army of Ademulegun to kill TIV rioters, who were yearning for a seperate region outside Northern Nigeria. He was such an evil man.

Yet, Kano and the other NW and NE states are poorest in the world, loooool.

APCsupporter, only a superior IQ can build these things in the 60s. What Biafra achieved in three years, Nigeria can't match them even in the next century, looool. Biafrans refined their fossil oil. Today, Nigeria can't brag of any functioning refinery, looooooool.

Fulani led Nigeria, is the headquarters of poverty.

France built these things? Looooool. Stop clowning. These warweads were built by the Biafran Research and Production Group(RAP).

The greatest engineering group ever existed in black Africa in the 60s, looooool. Your fulani folks can't even build ranches hence, I don't expect them to know basic engineering terms - how much more, building a land mine, loooooool.

We can't build submarines, since we are still living with nomadic cowjockeys, loooooool.

Show us one warhead built by fulani cowjockeys in the 60s even in the 90s, looooooool. None! Building ranches is still rocket science to makeup wearing cowjockeys, looooool.

Is Tivland Niger Delta ? The first real discernible Niger delta political organization in the Nigerian federation led by Harold Biriye allied itself with Bello's NPC.

The Mid west Forum formed to counter NCNC and AG in the then Midwest also allied with the NPC. ND political elders have always been in line with the NorthWest in posture.

Isaac Adaka Boro truly made that statement and had allied himself with them. A few days after the npc leadership was gunned down he launched the first secession attempt in the new nation; against aguiyi Ironsi's govt. The rest is history.

Bello is a Nigerian elder and to those who pay attention to history a Niger Delta elder as well.

Sir Ahmadu Bello was a human who like all other mortals had his shortcomings.

However as a political leader, a noble Fulaniman and a Regional Premier, he wasn't that bad as being ridiculed by online (mostly) Igbo youth.

It will be very wrong to judge his actions by contemporary political barometer.

He was a REGIONAL Leader but not a tribalist. He did his best for the North and many of his legacies are still very visible.

Nigerian Political leaders in the 1953-1966 were the most visionary leaders we have ever had.

They were bound to make mistakes because;

1) They were the pioneers. They had little prior experience in State craft and governance.

2) Their Background and their primordial environment reflected in their worldviews which was bound to be at variance with that of other regional political leaders.

3) Nigeria just started her journey into nationhood.
It's very difficult to bring over 200 different tribes to live together as one. It's inevitable that there will be inter-ethnic tension.

This was the reason Awolowo and the Action Group leaders suggested that a secession clause be inserted in the Independence Constitution at the Lancaster House constitutional conference.

4) The first couple was a great error of judgement and a costly mistake by truncating a natural learning phase and plunging the young artificially created country into a senseless civil war, the effects of which still reverberate till today.
